Sturridge MOTD 2...

Have always liked Sturridge and don't get why he gets booed. Nice to see a player leave us who still respects the club and the fans.

Spoke well on it and nobody could say anything against his statement.
As for Shearer, as another poster already highlighted. Total fucking wanker.

He alluded to exactly what I've heard about his exit: he wanted to sign a new contract but mark Hughes and his staff felt his attitude was wrong so he wasn't offered one.

What a fuck up by the tafia.

Played really well and deserves congratulations for not celebrating and not rising to the abuse. i feel there are some ex players who really dont deserve it. Distin didnt either. Time to stop booing him, I think. We should never have let him go.

Baconface will probably put that down to him and hughes - job done.

Seems there are different stories from the time he left. DD's isn't the one that I heard.

He's still a greedy bastard!

Really? He made a point of saying he didn't go for money and that we don't know why he left. Actually, I'm pretty sure he left because of Hughes.

Money
I thought he said when he joined Chelsea that he could have got more at City.

I thought he got a little bit of a raw deal at City. We had Robinho at the time and he was taking Sturridge's place without really justifying it

But he's always given me the impression of playing for himself rather than the team. I saw him play in the FA Youth Cup games and he's exactly the same now as he was then. Sometimes brilliant and sometimes infuriating. If he gets the ball on his left foot he is very very strong. I don't think he'll ever be a really top player, partly because I think he thinks he already is

All just impressions and perhaps a bit unfair. I never took to him as a young player though. There's something I don't like about him. Perhaps his over-confidence

Been saying this since it became obvious that he was going to leave here:- "One of the biggest fuck ups of Leslie's stay here"

And considering his stay here was littered with complete fuck up, after complete fuck up, that is saying something.

I firmly believe that Sturridge was one of the many City players who were briefed against in the press by their own manager, as an attempt to cover up and excuse the absolutely shite job he did here.

Until his final half season here, Hughes spent most of his time slagging off his own players to journalists because they would not rim his arse every day and he could not manage anyone who was not a fully paid up member of the Taffia.

Sturridge was just one of many and the mud stuck with him as he has a few aspects to his personality that are not the greatest.

FUCK OFF HUGHES!

I'd heard he couldn't stand Hughes so couldn't wait to get out. So when the chance came to learn alongside Drogba and Anelka, he grabbed it with both hands.

I will never boo a product of our academy. He was nailed on to score today, wish I'd put money on it

I don't know any real details but I did hear something from a reliable source and my recollection is that Sturridge had some sort of issue with Hughes and I can assure you that he would not have been the only City player to think Hughes was a complete twat.

Not true

He very nearly signed for Chelsea when he was 17 but it was thwarted by a medical condition.
