Suarez - banned for 4 months (page 74)

John Cross can always be relied on to come up with a load of bullshit. On Talkshite earlier he said that Suarez's ban was harsh but fair. No John. It can be severe (i.e. a heavy punishment) and be fair but it can't be harsh (i.e. unfairly severe) and fair.

They actually think Suarez's human rights are being violated

Lance Armstrong got banned full stop and stripped if memory serves me right.

Correct.

Lost all his Tour de France titles.

Banned for life!

And not just banned for life from Cycling. But from any sport that has WADA as an enforcement arm. He can no longer compete in most major triathlons around the world as a result of his lifetime ban. He was an emerging force in that sport and it was simply taken away from him even though he had never had any drug allegations against him in it.

I thought he fessed up to doping?

Does anyone know how the blue side of Liverpool have reacted on their forum? I'd genuinely like to know.
I'd imagine they're all fully supportive of their neighbours and believe Suarez has been harshly treated.
The only one I know seems to think all Kopites are gobshites (mind you she feels the same way about Mancs) and she can't believe the crap they are spouting.

My tongue was ever so slightly in my cheek when I posted that.

I'd guessed that bit, but the comments by the blue Scouse lady are the only ones I've heard from Toffees.

Did Defoe get banned when he bit Mascherano in the Premier League? I genuinely don't remember. Or was he ok because he's English?
He was booked so the FA couldn't take retrospective action. That was the same season Thatcher got retrospectively banned after being booked. But that was classed as "exceptional". Probably because Thatcher wasn't an England international.

I thought it was classed as exceptional because of the extent of the injury to Mendes.

You can't really compare Defoe and Suarez though. Defoe did it in retaliation, a heat of the moment thing, and more of a nibble than anything. The footage is inconclusive too, which is why I suspect the FA took the easy route. I think he did it, and it's a disgusting thing to do but in no way comparable to Suarez.
Suarez proper sunk his ghashers in on all three occasions.
I thought he only missed one game? Though it was a very twatty challenge from Thatcher.

Not wishing to defend Suarez in any way, but I think Armstrong's years of systematic cheating, doping and bullying team mates was on a different level to the mad cannibal's random chomp.
But what about his previous offences? And his consistent diving? And being a generally niggly twat hoping to get a reaction from opponents that leads to them being sent off? Remember the gif doing the rounds of him kicking the back of VK's legs and then going down as though he'd been smacked in the face. A cheating twunt is a cheating twunt whether it comes from a pharmacy (as with Armstrong) or from one's own cheating twuntiness - as with Suarez.
