He was booked so the FA couldn't take retrospective action. That was the same season Thatcher got retrospectively banned after being booked. But that was classed as "exceptional". Probably because Thatcher wasn't an England international.

Yeah, they've changed that rule now in response to stupid shit like that. But obviously they rewrite the rule book when it's one of our players.
