Subway

It's not so much that some dickhead has mumbled a few words about a paedo sky fairy, over an animal before slaughter .... but that it's taking the pork products (Bacon and Ham) off the menu totally in their shops because of the muslim customers ..... THAT is unacceptable ....
Why? Does this mean you can never ever have a bacon or ham butty ever again from anywhere ever? Or is it you are now going to be inconvenienced by going to a different butty shop? Or is ti something a bit more deep seated than that? Whenever I go for a ruby, it's a safe bet I'm not going to get a pork madras so if I want one I'll cook it at home. It's also a safe bet when my chicken karahi arrives for my main, the chicken is going to be halal and guess what? My ruby is fucking great and even more bizarrely, it doesn't stop me going to the ruby house!

Lost me with the bacon and ham butty bit ..... my gripe is just cos somebody doesn't believe they can eat it, that Subway are replacing it on their menus for all ...... surely muslims can simply choose not to eat it maybe? Jewish people don't seem to mind it being sold in such shops.

And as for going for a curry .... Yes, I can get a lovely Goan Pork Madras in my local Indian ..... cos Indians eat pork .....and happily advertise they serve 'non halal' food, which is why and many others use it. I don't agree with halal methods .... ditto kosher, before you play the race card .....

The Halal method of slaughter may appear barbaric. Is it crueller than other methods though? You've seen how chickens are killed or, how baby male chicks are 'disposed' of.
Pigs are known to experience stress and fear at the slaughterhouse because they 'know' a terrible fate awaits them.

it's cruel as fuck to eat meat anyway (depending how you view our furry friends) and if I had to kill my own animals for consumption I'd be a veggie pretty quick.

As I've posted in another thread,I was a slaughterman for 10 years,I worked for a company that owned a lot of different abattoir's.....I've had to assist in the process of halal meat,as only the Muslim is allowed to kill the animal, which would be mainly a ewe, cattle, calf or goat....It's no worse than we would kill for your normal supermarket....as for barbaric?,kosher is just that, which I also assisted with and had to walk out of my job.....it's fuckin horrendous, mark my words.
On another note I will assure you pigs experience no stress whatsoever,I guarantee you that.

I go past one every morning on the way to work and the smell alone puts me off. I think it's the dough or meatballs defrosting. Smells rank anyway
I love the smell of subway! I like the chicken teriyaki subs. The meatball ones look fucked up though.

I briefly worked at a Subway in my youth and the marinara sauce used to clog the drains. Plumbers had to be called on numerous occasions. If it does that to drains consider what it does to your insides.

FYI, the job title of someone who works there is 'sandwich artist'

I think the point is, that as much as no one would be forcing an islamic/jewish person to eat bacon, no one is forcing you to eat subway.

If enough people are up in arms about it, then Subway will have been proven wrong, and their turnover will fall. If they have been proven right, it will continue.

personally, I hate any sort of relegious interference in my freedom of choice. However I can't remember the last time I went into Subway. I'm actually a lot more inconvinienced by retail banks' opening hours on a Sunday....some could argue thats derived from relegion.

That said, by my reckoning the number of subway stores implementing this amounts to about 13%. Meh, I'm not overly bothered.

Of course I would rather every shop catered to all needs, but for businesses, well they care about the bottom line.

always avoid subways since citykev and his marauding gang chased me and caught me in the subway at gee lane. they rifled through my schoolbag and stole my pencil sharpener......................coonts

Aah, I remember it well. We'd all just been in Gregg's buying corned beef pasties when I spotted your mob. I regret taking your pencil sharpener now. I regretted it even more the weekend after when you gave me a fucking good leathering at Eccles station and took my Grolsch tops off my shoes.
