I think it was probably “blown out of proportion” because:I didn't think the criticisms were unfair, I just thought (personally) it was blown out of proportion and that the sins were not in themselves that serious. That's just my view and obviously MANY people had a different view - and I never said otherwise. But that does not mean people didn't try to make political capital out of it. As the old saying goes, "Just because I am paranoid, it doesn't mean the buggers are not out to get me". Anyway the politically expedient criticisms were entirely to be expected - its the nature of politics. Which is what I meant when I cited the Tories' criticisms of Starmer's drinks issue. It was a non-issue that political opponents tried to blow out of proportion.
I’d just say that, with his cronies, he instigated the death of over 200,000 of our vulnerable people.I think it was probably “blown out of proportion” because:
The country’s handling of covid was already seen to be appalling.
The government had built up a reputation for lying repeatedly to achieve their aims.
The PM in question was increasingly seen to be covering up for others regardless of their offences.
It was becoming obvious to most that the government were trying to put in place mechanisms to increase their own self-governance and reduce the influence of external regulator bodies.
There had been multiple incidences of the PM lying in parliament and breaking the ministerial code.
The PM had a track record of lying to preserve his own skin before he even got the job.
So this did not happen in isolation. It was a symptom of an incompetent and arrogant government governed by somebody unfit for the job. That’s why it took him down, and destroyed your party. Deservedly so.
What we'll never know is how many of the 230,000 UK Covid deaths were avoidable if we had a competent government leading the pandemic response. It’s safe to say it’s a lot more than zero.I’d just say that, with his cronies, he instigated the death of over 200,000 of our vulnerable people.
New Zealand 3445 deaths (0.067% of population), UK 231324 deaths (0.34% of population). What we'll never know is how many of the 230,000 UK Covid deaths were avoidable if we had a competent government leading the pandemic response. It’s safe to say it’s a lot more than zero.

Stop blowing it all out of proportion. What we'll never know is how many of the 230,000 UK Covid deaths were avoidable if we had a competent government leading the pandemic response. It’s safe to say it’s a lot more than zero.
Although New Zealand is probably not a fair comparison due to its remoteness and low population density, comparisons with other larger developed island nations like Japan and Taiwan would suggest our fatality rate was possibly 3 times higher than it could have been if the government had taken advantage of our island status and acted more appropriately by learning the lessons from Italy in the early days of the crisis.New Zealand 3445 deaths (0.067% of population), UK 231324 deaths (0.34% of population).
Can we confirm what is proportional? Pile them 10,000 high, all 85s have had their life, let the rest of us get on with it?Stop blowing it all out of proportion.
She isn’t a simpleton though. Her approach is calculated. It makes her more of a monstrosity.
