Suella Braverman - sacked as Home Secretary (p394)

I think the Tories have decided to throw in the towel and given Labour the mess to clear up, I also suspect Labour will throw in the towel and get the Tories to clear up the mess in a few years, but we are lucky we don’t have Putin in charge, and a choice between a crook and a geriatric in charge, like the USA

My ire is correctly directed at those within government who repeatedly flouted the rules they themselves had set while the rest of the country observed the national and in some cases local directives. My concern isn’t with the rules it’s the fact that Johnson and his cronies broke them….repeatedly and without any shame or contrition. In fact there’s still idiots defending him now after he’s been fined by the police.

So why mention about working in a nursing home and folk peering through windows then? It’s emotive and no longer seems relevant to your point.

Which was precisely my point, if you had stopped to think about what I wrote rather than jump on the indignation bandwaggon.
Your point seemed to me to be that because you personally thought that Covid rule breaking was no big deal, even by the rule makers, that people were unfair to Johnson for political reasons. And you used a totally invalid comparison to demonstrate your point. But that’s just my interpretation.

More like her obsession with the genocidal Israeli fanatics. Maybe she is on a waiting list for a forced Palestinian house removal.

did the previous idiot of a home office minister not have some 8/10 secret meetings with the genocidal Netanyahu? May sacked her if I recall. Our politicians are clearly in this evil regimes pockets.
Patel was sacked for meeting Israel representatives without telling anyone, although she wasn't Home Sec at the time.

I didn't think the criticisms were unfair, I just thought (personally) it was blown out of proportion and that the sins were not in themselves that serious. That's just my view and obviously MANY people had a different view - and I never said otherwise. But that does not mean people didn't try to make political capital out of it. As the old saying goes, "Just because I am paranoid, it doesn't mean the buggers are not out to get me". Anyway the politically expedient criticisms were entirely to be expected - its the nature of politics. Which is what I meant when I cited the Tories' criticisms of Starmer's drinks issue. It was a non-issue that political opponents tried to blow out of proportion.

Say to the court, it glows
And shines like rotten wood;
Say to the church, it shows
What’s good, and doth no good.
If church and court reply,
Then give them both the lie.

Tell potentates, they live
Acting by others’ action;
Not loved unless they give,
Not strong but by a faction.
If potentates reply,
Give potentates the lie.

Tell men of high condition,
That manage the estate,
Their purpose is ambition,
Their practice only hate.
And if they once reply,
Then give them all the lie.

After getting on a bus in London for the first time in about 25 years a couple of weeks ago I can confirm that there are no wrong types of bus wankers, just bus wankers!! Haha!
I didn’t have a clue what to do when I got on, tried asking driver how much it was and how far the journey was and he was tutting like a right ****, got card out to pay for me and mrs and was told I couldn’t pay her fare she had to use her own card!! Started to dispute in my own calm and reasonable way that I’m known for then heard some **** at the back screaming for me to hurry the fuck up because they were in a rush.
My calm and reasonable self then disappeared and I shouted something back which might have had some expletives before my mrs dragged me off the bus where we got a taxi, a taxi that I’d fucking suggested we get in the first place until she told me the bus would be an adventure!! Haha!
I don’t think I’ll be getting on one ever again, I’d rather walk :-)
I’d be somewhat similar. Tram or train for me.

I did see an old Top Gear recently where May got on a bus and asked the driver if first class was upstairs at the front.

The issue was more him lying to parliament about it (and in other statements judging by the covid enquiry).

I don’t overly have an issue with people thinking the parties were blown out of proportion. I don’t get how anyone can support the idea that the prime minister should be allowed to mislead the house though. Whether i like them personally as a politician or not, I’d personally see that as an immediate resigning matter.

Either way though, he lost his job due to a different huge error of judgment of his, which was hiring Chris Pincher.
