Suicide

Honestly now guys...

I've suffered with severe depression for most of my childhood and adult life.

I've been close a couple of times. but the on;y way I'd do it is with the gun. Everything else is too open to failure.

In my opinion it takes immense courage to commit suicide... I'm not trying to glorify it. But anyone who has taken that path deserves respect IMO.

controversial... but it's my view.
no mate courage is facing up to lifes pitfalls and coming through on the other side with your head held high, suicide is a cowards way out and i have no respect for any one who takes that path.....controversial i know but it MY veiw!!!

Suicide is a varied thing and the means does often tell you something about the motive/state of mind of the person. Some people do it out of anger, often associated with self hanging and poisoning with chemicals. Desperation is common in jumping into water and crashing cars. Calculated suicide by overdose or other means is more associated with depression or just common misery. There are wide variations, but these categories are broadly correct.

I can't ever imagine suicide being an 'easy option'. Killing yourself out of cowardice? Doesn't make sense to me.

Nobody knows how many for sure, but a significant percentage ( maybe as many as half) of suicides are 'gestures' gone wrong, or half hearted acts that went too far. There is good data from failed suicdes to suggest that many people who try don't actually want to die when given a chance to reconsider.

I worry about the young-uns, the 16 year olds etc. I fear they are swept along with the drama of it all due to their lack of maturity.

As far as the adults go, it's horrific what they see fit to put other people through in their quest to seek 'peace'.

And contrary to some opinions on this thread, I think there are many psychiatric patients who want nothing more than to spout their problems to others as a form of therapy. The internet is quite a useful tool as far as they're concerned.

Not everyone agreed with Care in the Community. 1993 saw a dramatic shift, and it was catastrophic. But it was led by left wing social workers who wanted to believe in the best in people, bless them.

My God you're a political genius - I can't imagine what I was doing wasting my time within the Psychiatric Care industry for over 20 years. I clearly don't have a clue.
