Summer Transfers

Apparently Pep is going to be given around £170m to spend this summer. It could be enough.

Would like Hart to come back but probably won't happen. So we'll get some money in from his sale. Also Nasri will most likely be sold for a decent amount.

We need

CB: Laporte, looks to be our number 1 target, haven't seen much of him but Pep wants him so ok. Looks to have £60m buy out clause. Also linked with Van Dijk now injured for 3 months.

LB: Bernat maybe, would be nice to get Alaba but unlikely. Should really buy quality here as its our weakest position.

RB: Bellerin, linked to him multiple times, would be a good fit, has a lot of potential. Arsenal missing out or just barely making top 4 can help our cause. Either way they are underachieving. Probably £40-50m for him.

DM: William Carvalho- Pep's brother is now his agent, would make sense for us to get him. He looks good but nothing too special. Is young and hungry which is what we need. Would add some steel to our midfield could be a good signing. Probably will go for £30-40m maybe more. Weigl, I doubt as he just signed an extension and could stay at Dortmund a few years to further develop. I think Fabinho would also be a great signing as he can play DM and RB, only 23.

If we buy quality in these 4 positions we'll be unstoppable. Just getting young, quick, defensively solid full backs will take us up another level. Clichy/Kolarov has been liabilities at LB costing us many, many goals this season. We need two LBs a top quality one and a back up. Sagna/Zaba at RB have been decent but are still liabilities. Sad to see Zaba decline.

Would be great if we got some deals done early as well.

Costa is an interesting choice but there are more important areas that need strengthening.

My prediction for the summer is;
Griezmann to the scum for a world record fee.

Kun to leave for Madrid.

Aubamayang to City.

Roberts to go on loan to a better league.
If Nolito stays. If he goes Roberts to come back.

Maffeo to come back

A new left back.

A new centre half

A new goalie

Clichy, Sagna and Navas to be shipped out.

Kolorov will stay.

Maybe Yaya will get a one year contract if he is not greedy on his wages ie a lot less than he is on now.

The usual suspects Hart, Nasri Bony and Mangala are toast.

I'm hoping that we only sign a handful of players because we can only afford a select few genuinely world class. And we replace a lot of the squad with our youth - can't be worse.

I want to see a new LB and GK for sure. Then if possible a RB and CB. And if we could get a real boss in CM it'd be great.

If we pay big I want it to be worth it - not the likes of Stones again please.

From the 25 we have now going are....

Caballero (free)
Clichy (free)
Kolarov (free)
Sagna (free)
Zabaleta (free)
Fernando (sold)
Navas (free)
Nolito (sold)

Add to these players who will return

Hart (sold)
Denayer (sold)
Maffeo (Squad player)
Mangala (loan)
Angelino (loan)
Nasri (sold)
Zinchenko (loan)
Bony (loan)
Moreno (loan)
Roberts (loan)

Only player I see coming into our side is Maffeo due to both RBs going don't think Angelino is good enough yet.

leaves us with.....

Maffeo
Gundogan
De Bruyne

Silva
Sterling
Yaya (Think he'll get 1 more year)
Jesus

Iheanacho

7 to 8 places to fill another GK,RB,2x LB, CB, 2 CMs and maybe another forward but it's hardly needed although I could see Pep wanting Sanchez.

Not very realistic but what a squad we'd have.

there is no way we will be looking to bring in 6-8 first team signings in the next window - too much change to integrate.

Fully expect Yaya, Sagna, Kolarov to stay another year.. A sensible guess is that we will get a LB, CB, RB & GK first teamers - any other transfers will be for the U23 or to be loaned out.

EDIT: I anticipate that there will be a shit-ton of first team players we cant shift who will go out on subsidised loans - Bony, Mangler, Nasri, Hart etc..

5-7 is certainly possible. Remember we have Sagna, Clichy, Caballero, Zabba, Yaya and Navas with expiring contracts. That's 6. You'd expect maybe 4-6 of those to leave. Then you have players like Fernando and Delph. Who will almost certainly leave. With Nolito and Kolarov also possibilities. This summer could see a big turnover of players.

What about this for a squad

Call me irrational but I'd like to see us spend big on a proven top player like Sanchez in the summer.

I think one lb and one rb is all we need. We are more than covered in other areas.
CB: Kompany, Otamendi, Stones, Adarabioyo + Kolarov
CM/CDM: Fernandinho, Yaya, Fernando, Gundogan, A Garcia
AM: de Bruyne, Silva
Front 3: Aguero, G Jesus, Sterling, Sane, Iheanacho, Roberts
If we buy a new cb, cm or winger/striker than we are looking for some problems from inside squad.

What about this for a squad
David Silva is the captain and would probably be a starter. That means Gundogan is a backup once he gets healthy. The only position worth upgrading is Dihno/Yaya at DM. I have no clue who that would be. It's not Carvalho though. Needs a little more energy from the player.

Don't like Rose or Sidibe. Good players but technique isn't at the level required. Semedo, Heinrich, Karsdorp, Perreirra. That the technical level we should be aspiring for.

LB: Bernat, Sandro, Grimaldo. That's the technical level at LB.

If we get Laporte, then I think it would mean Kompany has been judged as unable to get over his injuries.

The front 3 seems fine. But there is a likelihood Aguero goes. Either way, he would not be captain I don't think.

I think it's obvious we'll be in the market for a LB, RB and GK. The former two are by Pep's own admission and the latter is painfully obvious to all.

Pep likes midfielders, so I wouldn't put it past him bringing in at least one. Carvalho is a head-scratcher though, linked by the media only because of Pep's brother now being his agent. They've pulled the same trick with just about every good player out there, and it means little. That said, I do think a long term, reliable option will be sought for where Yaya currently holds the fort. Gundogan's injuries and Pep's preference to play him further up the park mean it will have to come from outside, ultimately.

As for strikers, the jury is out. Dybala is such an obvious target it doesn't need to be said. If there's the slightest chance he can be available the club will pounce, make no mistake. Outside that, it all depends on what Sergio will do, if he's gone then you're looking at Aubameyang back in the conversation again, if he stays then you work on making him more in tune with Pep's system and hope that, alongside Jesus and Kelechi, it's enough. My gut feeling is that he could leave and that, either which way, we need something much more to start a serious title push alongside our seriously talented youngsters.

I feel the club will make another run on both Bonucci and/or Laporte, potentially now with offers that the respective clubs may find impossible to refuse. Maybe another attempt for Bellerin, which could well gain traction if Wenger is finally heading out the Arsenal door (which I think he will). Bravo is pretty much gone, too much ill-will there and it's clear he's not settled, I'd expect Moraes or Rulli in as number 1. As for midfielders, Weigl is the obvious target there, Pep is a big fan and he fits right in with our 21-and-under squad refresh. Finally, you're realistically looking at a Grimaldo or Bernat for LB, I think Rose would be low-balling for us and I don't think Pep, or City, will be messing around or gambling with any signings this Summer.

excellent post, i think if sergio is gone city will push hard for dybala who is a stud in my opinion

i agree that rose isnt a good enough option for us

Off the top of my head that would leave us with just the 20 non homegrown players for our squad.

I don't think we need to make major changes.

We need two full backs, and a goalkeeper, and it seems we'll be back in for Laporte, but apart from that do we need anyone else?

I'm sure Kun will stay, he's said he wants to and the club said we're not selling him. Jesus has started well but he's 19, and you can't have only one top striker with the amount of games we play.

We're settled with Sané, Sterling, KDB and Silva, some of the best attacking midfielders/wingers in the world.

Possibly a defensive midfielder to come, but I don't think we need anyone else, just GK, LB, RB and CB.
