Again you are assuming Pep and the club haven’t noticed any of this and are going to do nothing about it. There is no reason at to believe Pep a manager constantly striving for improvement and Txiki are blind to it and intent on doing nothing about it .
To think they aren't planning on improving on last seasons weaknesses you have very little faith in some of the best at their jobs in football.

Im torn on Mcgure tbh but looking at it very simply - is he better than Otto or Stones. - the answer is yes

As for who else - not sure but there have to be players out there _city have a scouting network that is world wide - I cant believe there aint centre havles better then Ottomendi out there - he should have gone 2 years ago at the very least - he has always been dodgy

Fair enough if you think that. I just think sometime people think that overpaying for players just to get them in will solve everything. I think the way Pep feels is there will be another one, if he can't get his target and is prepared to wait. Just like Jorginho who was prepared to come, when he went to Chelsea we didn't panic buy, but waited. It's more about the structure of the club. Overpaying for transfers and paying huge wages to a player who's just come can cause problems in the long run i.e. Sanchez. You should earn the money by your performances playing like KDB and Sterling. If not it could cause unrest in the rest of the club.

When it comes down to it, the team as a whole need to play better as well and I think in time we will. We are in transition and Rodri in the middle will get better as time goes along. Same with other players. I try not to get clouded by results. We lost to a lot of teams we outplayed. Part of the reason is we didn't take our chances. Can't blame everything on the defence if we don't score as well.

We may well have made a mistake last year, exposed by Laportes injury. Even if we’d got a c.b though would we have beaten Liverpools total of possibly over 100 points doubtful. So it may not have cost us much anyway. I accept though not bringing in a centre back looks now like a mistake.
The post I replied to though suggested you think we won’t bring in a centre back this summer, and united and arsenal will improve beyond recognition. I guarantee we will bring one in maybe 2 and with Garcia stepping up and Laporte back we will be back to our best next season.

No thats why i clearly wrote i was torn about him - so asy to post the common glib responses without reading properly first...do you deny he is better than Ottomendi and Stones?

yes we missed chanecs but this tells you everything you nee to know - as it stands we have outsocred Liverpool but let in more goals than them so that says actually the real problem is defensively

I just love the insistence that Garcia AND THB are both going to be trusted next season as well a 35 year old Dinho to be the starter. Its just not going to happen. We need a starting CB not more young bench option CB's to push Garcia further down the pile

Mental ain't it. Ppl still want ferna, laporte backed up by nico and garcia. Not only is that not an improvement but nico and ferna are another year older, another year slower. So what's the other option. Let's get bonucci!!! Wtf does that fix?

We need speed, power, height, leadership, solid on the ball yet isnt going to hamper thb or Garcia. I know, let's buy a 20/23 year old potential superstar (upemacano, dias, konate). Then moan when our own potential greats do one.

So logically age and attributes koulibaly ticks every box. Is he expensive? Yes, but we wont in theory need to buy a cb for a decade.

We have so many players we either dont need or arent good enough.
Bravo finished
Cancelo if he wants to stay good if not sell him. Hes rarely used, play a kid.
Nico finished
Stones if newcastle want to spend big sell him.
Zinchenko not a lb not gonna replace bernado, Kdb, foden.
Angelino if we gonna play 3 at the back keep if not sell.
Gundogan not what we need as an 8 an average dm
Mahrez slows our play down, fancies out of tackles. Sell next season.
Sane sign a new contract or sell
Kun 1 more season
Ferna 1 more season rotate with rodri.

Maguire may seem on the surface better than Stones or Otamendi and you may think he's an automatic upgrade, I don't think it's as easy as that. Stones and Ota get ridiculed largely in part because of how we play. We play out from the back, a high line etc. I think if Maguire did come he'd make his fair share of mistakes in our system as well. People just see Maguire with United or Leicester and think he's better. I seen Maguire make mistakes with England. So he isn't 85mil better that's for sure.

The issue last season is we couldn't shift Otamendi. Nobody wanted him meaning no foreign spot opened up. Thats why Maguire seemed to be the only option. For 40m Maguire was probably worth it but not at 80, even with the issues we've had this season

I didnt say they would improve beyond recognition - i said utd have already have improved - which is undeniable - they have (regardless of style of play they have become more solid) and Arsenal i believe will improve with Arteta (though I conceed it could go the other way but I have faith in Arteta being a decent manager). Chelsea have already strengthened their squad.

I hope we do bring in someone else as the whole basis of my point is that we need to -Garcia does look good BUT is still unproven long term so it could go either way.

While i agree with you its not as easy as that, Mcguire is an upgrade in every dept on Ottomendi - better in the air, better at bringing the ball out from the back, quicker and easily just as good one vs one defending (Probably better and certainly not as rash) - so individually in all departments he is better. its hard to see that he wouldnt be able to cope better than Ottomendi in our system

Hopefully like others have said Pep and Txixi have do someone in mind that fits even better (and for cheaper as i completely agree he was overpriced
