Even if Maguire may have been better than Otamendi in the long run, again not worth paying £85m for. Look at the price we paid for Laporte £57m. Even if you play more for English players, there is no justification for paying that much for the fee and paying a higher salary to Maguire for a slightly better Otamendi. Ota is terrific in the air btw.While i agree with you its not as easy as that, Mcguire is an upgrade in every dept on Ottomendi - better in the air, better at bringing the ball out from the back, quicker and easily just as good one vs one defending (Probably better and certainly not as rash) - so individually in all departments he is better. its hard to see that he wouldnt be able to cope better than Ottomendi in our system

You make some good valid points; Aouar, Alaba and Skriniar.Obviously i know no better than you, but
Steffen, he had a great season on loan and understands first team football is more important than sitting on the bench, he will ask to leave if we do not loan out again, Muric had a torrid time but is still quality sitting on our bench is just as good as someone else`s at least for next season, plus he is club trained.
Skriniar, is quality but he is already at a rich club, i would go for Upamecano because like Maguire he can play LCB and RCB.
Alaba, he does not want to play LB and has said so for years, plus he does not want to come to Britain.
Aouar, a good player that we do not need and not the best at what he does,
Sancho, credit to the lad for not riding the media city hate wave, but he did not leave us just to get game time, he could have done that on loan, he has a career path, that does not include coming back to Britain unless he fails, which clearly he has not.
Cancelo, until he puts in a transfer request he is a great back up, then if he does it is down to his agent to find a club willing to pay for him, which is not this year

However Upamecano showed yesterday that he's still an absolute liability at times, if one of our centre backs had the game he had and I'm not just talking about the sending off, we wouldn't be happy at all. He cost his team the game effectively.
I'm not sure how you can say Sancho won't comeback to play in England either if I've read that correctly, I don't think you've got anything to substantiate that claim at all.
Cancelo, again, if he asks to leave, let him go. A player doesn't have to submit a formal transfer request to be allowed to leave, as long as he's not talking to the press and he's fulfilling his contractual obligations until we get an acceptable offer, then there's no issues needed to be created. Much like Sane.
