Think that about covers it

I know our defense can be shocking at times but its upfront that let's us down imo. We just aren't as fluid in attack as we used to be. When Aguero first arrived some of the football was spectacular for example.

My hope is that there are 1 or 2 players out there that could spark it up again. Guys who can get through the forest of defenders and who take chances when they arrive. No idea who though.

I can't see defensive players helping us enough.

According to the stats its defensively that we have let ourselves down but i get what you mean - we havent been clinical enough and we still only have Sergio out of our main forwards (Sterling, Jesus, Makrez) that can conjure something out of nothing. Dont get me wrong, Sterlign has hugely improved and Jesus gets his goals - but in the big moments - neither are lethal.

I think Foden adds another dimension to our game in this sense -he gets into shooting positions and unlike David Silva (who is vastly superior in most other ways) he is a better shot and i think will score more goals -there is a little bit of Frank Lampard in him for me in that sense (but a better dribbler than lampard ever was and more direct than silv who uses dribbling to create space for himself rather than beat a man like foden can). KDB also has this in his locker (shooting from distance) and its something that we appear more willing to do at present (though it might just be that we have gone to that automaticaly like against Newcastle because teams sit so deep)

The replacement of Aguero as we all know however is key - thats not saying Jesus, Sterling etc need to go - far from it - we will need another forward to supplement the others one Aguero does leave

I also think that thats why we might be going for the type of players like Almada, Amad Troare etc if the rumours are true plus this 16 yr old kid from Juve - all small but diminuitive Messi type players who love to dribble and work in very tight spaces (again like foden does)

I do wonder if Pep looking at this season might go for a different type of striker as well -something for an option B -we put so many crosses into opponents box but unless they are spot on they come to nothing (for their respective heights Jesus and Kun are both good in the air down to their brilliant movement) -maybe Haaland fits that type of all around striker who is also good in the air with a physical presence.
