Summer Transfers

One loss and people are having a meltdown gone from wanting 2 CBs Sane replacement and perhaps a left back to adding a striker midfielder and also wanting rid of extra players like Mahrez, Gundogen, Rodri, Cancelo can we all just calm down
Please answer these points

Mahrez, does our team work better as a unit or as individuals? He is capable of individual brilliance every 5-10 games. He doesn't defend well, he doesn't pass to better placed players, its a trick and a blocked shot or cross. Yes 13 assists and 15 goals? looks great on paper but he slows down play and let's defenses settle.
Gundogan, is he good enough as a cdm? Is he good enough as OUR type of am? He is too weak in tackle and slow across the ground for a cdm. He, like mahrez slows play down too much for OUR type of am.
Rodri, does it hurt to have an alternative? I like rodri, but for fast transitioning teams we need a faster more mobile cdm. I'd like camavinga yet with the squad balance being as it is and the funds needed to fix it I'd go for douglas luiz.
Cancelo, is it worth keeping a player who doesn't play (pep trust issue maybe) or doesnt want to be here (if reports are to be trusted)? The lad we let go to celtic could have done what cancelo has done so far. I think he is a great rb and a perfect alternate to walker. Walker better defender cancelo better attacker. We could use the money to fix lb and use couto or an academy rb if not going to play regularly next season.

Also zinchenko, stones and nico need to be moved on. We need game changers for the bench and to push 1st teamers. Bernado for mahrez adds graft but same issues. Foden shouldn't have that much pressure on him plus he should be 1st team next year. Who else changes anything from the bench?

Especially as we seemingly refuse to pay more than £65m for a player. If that doesn't change then the replacements will be significantly worse unless we are very lucky.

Completely agree, and it's come home to roost this season.

Hopefully now we've won the court case we can be less nervous at rocking Uefa's boat and spend what we need on players who will improve the first team. If we don't then next season will be more of the same, especially looking how Chelsea have/are spending, rags improving unfortunately.

Need to get Koulibaly in, a left back that can defend and someone with energy & drive in midfield, or a searingly quick winger.

How difficult will it be to sign any world class players in this covid state? They would have to uproot their families who may be perfectly comfortable in their bubble, wherever that is. It would be an anxious move for all coming to the UK, predicted 2nd wave on the way etc. We ought to be looking at players who are single which would mean a far quicker transiation into the club and community. Replacing 1/3rd of the squad just won't happen in such a small timeframe. But, with just a couple of the right players signing to upgrade in the areas we need to will make noticeable improvements, remember how the defence looked transformed after Eddie signed.

we can’t just keep spending 65m+ on every player we want though. Surely we can find cheaper players and then turn them into world class players. Ie zabaleta/ Kompany.

I understand it for one or two players, but not every one. It would show a lack of management and ability from pep

We’ve spent a fortune on the defence already and most of them have been pretty useless

am guessing Koulibaly 65 mill, Digne 40 mill Haaland 60-70 mill??
I wonder if Everton would do a deal for Stones 30-35if slab head was 60 ish? . Sane we got 35-45 mill didn’t we? ( fucking laughable) Otters I guess 15-20 , zinchenko about same
So that would mean a spend of say £175 mill minus £90 .. net spend = £85 M which would be great business. ( I have probably got it all wrong).
Wasn't slabhead £80M?

Good luck finding replacements for those players on the cheap. Not going to happen. We will face decline unless we replace the spine with same quality.

Let's say we pay for Koulibaly by selling Sane, Otamendi, Stones, and Zinchenko. And let's say we go all-out and spent £150M this window.

Torres: £40M
Digne: £50M
Haaland: £60M

And that would be an excellent window, for me. Only thing you could ask for more is a dynamic midfielder, but I think Bernardo should be able to settle into that role better, if Torres because our option on the wings.
