Sorry fbloke,NITK about this,so could we/I please have further info ??

It was covered in the LV thread a while back but in essence OT just isn't up to the modern requirements.

There is a need for a large strip around the pitch for camera's, warm-up, medical teams and other sundry uses. To accomodate that they would have to remove quite a few blocks of seating and even then there are other needs to live up to the FIFA needs.

Thats why most world cups build new stadiums for the semi's and final as a minimum.

I will try and dig it out for you.

Thanks fbloke.
Don`t know how I missed this one as I read everything on BM,the good, the bad and the plain fucking ugly.

Makes the WC bid seem less than definite in terms of stadia as well doesn't it?

And of course City would likely finance it all in house. Could United do that to achieve less capacity?

And perhaps this is one of the reasons for City not coming out publicly ref our impending "grand design" for the Eastlands Procect ??

United do have 8 years to put it right if we get the bid though obv.

Although I doubt they would be willing to lose the revenue from ticket sales.

Indeed, the thought had crossed my mind.

But it seems there are indications for the end of this month for some news.
