Sure but SOL is an absolute fortress and they play like they have 12 men. I doubt you'll get a more physical game all season. Like I said you should have won but some positives too - I thought Rodri looked good when he came on- calmed the midfield down a lot.

That should have been a penalty - defender clipped Gvardiol's calf, which just stalled his momentum and reduced his ability to power his header either side of goalie - should have been reviewed by VAR - I wonder why it wasn't...........

All those incidents are reviewed.

This Loss is on the players. Pep can’t be blamed one bit. He could’ve played TJ after 70 mins but we had 5 chances to score and failed to convert. Players like Savio are the perfect examples as to why a team struggles to dominate. He will never make it here. Semenyo can’t come soon enough. Possibly the worst I’ve seen Haaland and Foden play today since they’ve been here outside last season. It’s no longer in our hands. It’s now going to take a miracle to win the league from here on out. Arsenal aren’t laying down neither is a team with EIGHT key players out, worst performance of the season. Not much to say but learn from it and move on.

Give the ball to Cherki more, stop playing players that don’t bring anything to the team and bring our quality down. For instance. Ake x Dias x Donnarumma is the worst combo i can think of, there is less than 0 build up play there, Bernardo doesn’t do anything besides run, when he can’t run anymore just take him out. TJ might be poor but he’s the only player that runs off the ball and who can see his runs and acc pass him the ball ? CHERKI. If Foden can’t do anything then bring on Rico because he has a good relationship with everyone especially Haaland. There’s small tweaks that can make a chain reaction.


All hope is not lost. But this was a significant setback.

Need a proper striker on the bench, Haaland is probably knackered as been a huge drop off in the last month or so. Surely there is an experienced journeyman striker willing to be a bit part starter.
Cant get Semenyo in fast enough as goals win games and Savinho yet again proving he cannot shoot.
But we were out muscled and bullied, not helped by Peps starting 11 with to many attackers and far too weak in midfield.
Another shocking ref who has previous against us, when will the club put in a formal complaint about the thuggery going unpunished game after game.

Agreed about Haaland. As for Savinhio. Dont get me going.

Sunderland had the better of the first half, but we were definitely the better in the second.

Too many chances squandered, though. Credit to the Black Cats for defending well, but we had more than enough of the ball in and around their penalty area to have put the game away.

It’s clear to see why the SoL is a fortress this season.

I only watched the second half. To me, it is the day you are just unlucky. There are enough good threats and shots to win a game but just unlucky. Sunderland was very organised at defence and brave enough to go full on with attack and high press. A good game. The city team will get stronger after this game. 4 point gap is nothing at half way.

For individuals, I feel Bernie was not involved enough, maybe tired. Cherky was really good. And Rodri too. Doku got on too early but Sav injured so no choice. Doku just has 15 minutes expire time and then he could not beat defender anymore. Nunes was a bit shell shocked. I can feel his brain was overheating. He didn’t give much contribution in attack but no brain fart at defending. His cannot play midfield.

I do find Pep’s reluctance to switch wingers round frustrating. Sometimes inverted wingers don’t work and a cut-back from the strong foot instead of a left winger on the right playing it back would be a refreshing change.

The only poor performances of those you've mentioned, by their own standards, are O'Reilly Haaland and Foden.

Two of the others whom you mentioned (Ake and Nunes) were the best players on the pitch. Cherki and Savinho were both fine too, though Savinho should have scored.

Agreed aside from Sav if his final ball is bad which 9/10 it is. then he is no use
