Sunderland (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The positive to take was Rodri looking a lot like his old self .
Savinho should of finished both chances coming his way 2nd half that were started by rodris excellent passes .
If Spurs come in with another daft offer we should accept it this time .

It was the type of game I expected. Slightly disappointed we didn't get the win, but we were lacking that bit of creativity that could have got us a couple of goals.

We were shit first half. Improved second half. Unlucky not to win but didn't put our chances away.
Rodri back, Doku back are a big positive.
Sunderland did exactly what they needed to do to keep unbeaten at home. I thought they were very good and put up a decent fight for most of the match. I'd have took a point before the game, and definitely at half time. Fair play to the mackems at the match too for getting behind their lads.

Good day out, i thought the draw was a fair result

I hoped Sunderland would stay up before a ball was kicked this season and they look more than capable of doing so.

Xhaka has been outstanding for them all season

There was good 150 plus of us in a pub called The Mallard in Seaham for over three hours and we had a very enjoyable afternoon. Thanks for the hospitality, it is how it should be.

But my comments were still valid as it was about the team selection which comes under pre match? I was disappointed Savinho starting the game as I think he's shit but next time I will check in with you, where I should post them.
No , fire away. Post where you want.
I was disappointed that he was starting as were many others.

Cheers. So 3 then rather than the 7 (6 actually at AFCON) that City fans on here are claiming just to have a whinge at our own team. You'd have thought your lot had thrashed us last night rather than being an entirely entertaining draw. I was impressed by your team all over the pitch, from the ball playing goalie all the way through to the man mountain up front.
Cheers, and yes 3 major impacts. That said, Afcon is also starting to impact us by lack of rotation due to losing the players. We were knackered last 20 last night..and we have a quick turnaround for Spurs, then Brentford...got visions of us crawling out of the tunnel by then...

What surprised me last night was.... for 30 mins at the Etihad, we kept you quietish... then Dias pings one top bins....And the game opened for you....

Why was nobody willing to have a dig from distance last night?

Anyway.....we all move on and see what the next chapter brings

Foden worst player out there
The average distance covered by Phil over 90 minutes this Season is ~12.42 km per game. He is one of the highest in the Premier League. Yes he could do better in possession but at least covers the channels and spaces to disrupt when opposition counter.

I thought we looked good in patches, but maybe a little tired at times against a hard working sunderland side. The last two games were tough imo. I thought a draw was a fair result, although we could've nicked it ,with the pressure at the end.
One thing I would like to say, is a massive shout out to all the blues who were there last night that offered assistance to me, I am disabled and need a stick to walk with . I was sat on row 19, and it wasn't easy getting up the Steps, especially with the hand rails being spaced out. And also to the blue who, at the end of the game, said,"put your hand on my shoulder " as I was walking down the aisle. Thankyou sir.

Disappointed not to win yesterday but City played well in the 2nd half and we just didn't take the chances we created. Credit to a very physical Sunderland who made it very hard indeed. I like their coach Regis Le Bris and he gets the very best out of his team unlike that moaning dinosaur Dyche who sends out his Forest team to cheat.

Rodri was a major plus last night. He was so sharp in and outvof possession - his fije range of passes broke the lines so quickly.

So yes you were weakened but I agree you have a pretty decent squad it seems.
The regular starters missing were Ballard, Sadiki, Reinildo and Traore, with the first 3 mentioned being our best players all season behind Xhaka, so 4 nailed on starters for last night's game, Masuaka was arguably at fault for both United goals earlier in the season, so is no loss at all

Talbi has been ok and wasn't really missed, Diarra has only just came back from a 3 month injury, although the glimpses we saw early season were enough to make me think he is actually our best player, but wouldn't have started last night anyway.

Semenyo is the best player we have seen at Sunderland so far this season, but not good enough to prevent sunderland winning that game 3-2, and will improve City going forward, and luckily your forwards will not be facing Mukiele and Alderete every week.

Good luck for the rest of the season fellas

Do you reckon Pep gave Erling a bollocking after his performance last night? It was one of them games where it's like playing with 10 men and we get too many of them performances from him. He has to do more.
