Sunderland (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I was expecting a tougher game although, unlike many, I certainly wasn’t bricking it. That was much more like a proper City performance.

Hope City build on it, including buying some additions in Jan.
I don't think we need to keep buying. It takes time for players to get used to each other and we still have top class players who are not on the field for whatever reason, many to come back from injury. Ait Nouri, Kovacic, Khusanov, Marmoush, Lewis, Bobb, and of course Rodri. I'm a big fan of Wilson-Esbrand who I think can make the breakthrough and there are a couple more on the fringes. We also have others out on loan too, Grealish of course, Akanji, Echeverri, Nypan, and this guy:

Cherki.. excellent with both feet.is he a new Messi in the making?Peps keeping him grounded for sure which is excellent man management from the goat.. Messi kept it simple.. this guy has potential to be world class. Very talented.put the work ethic in son and you won’t be too far away

Would love to know how many times we passed to Donnarumma in open play compared to earlier games this season. It felt like a lot, lot less than usual?

Hear hear.

Yes, tough one to call this season. I've backed us from day one and still do but a lot will need to go our way I reckon, particularly with injuries to our own and other teams' players, but we're due a break on that front surely?

I still think we'll continue to get better, just wish our last match wasn't vs Villa again. At least it's at home.
A title deciding last day...winner takes all...luv it.

Credit to Sunderland fans for keeping singing even if "Where were you when you were shit?" was naff. The response should have been "How shit must you be? You haven't scored four."

Important win that, cashing in on Arsenals defeat. The way they've been lauded and reported you'd think they were 8pts clear - if we can get out of the Christmas period and still be within 3-4 pts of them then the pressure will be on so let's see how they deal with it. We are better in their slipstream closeby at the moment.

Ruben's goal the key to open up the game. Cherki was excellent, Phil again always looking to probe and Gonzalez went about shutting doors and closing off threats like a good holding midfielder should.

Erling, Phil and a few others looked tired towards the end today and tbh I'd change all XI on Weds and play the Leverkusen team - we could field a full strength team, chase the game and we'd still likely lose in Madrid so I wouldn't chase it given we've Palace away on Sunday.

The way Pep laughably bigged up Savinho in his post-match quotes means he has to play. Once again we were treated to a comedy cameo of crap - gives the ball away for fun, runs down blind alleys and loses it and eff all happens when he's in a good position. The guy needs binning off and it's patently obvious.

I was near the tunnel as the players were leaving the pitch and Savinho looked almost distraught.
So he should after such a shite contribution. Again!

Anyway, it was a great result and a much better than expected performance. We bossed the game apart from 5-10 minutes and made them look very ordinary. 3 superb goals. Foden, NOR and Cherki were great.

Nuff said.

Change all the XI and play the Leverkusen team? Seriously? In a CL game against Real Madrid ? We'd be murdered. No , we are going there to win and Pep will play his strongest Xl .
