Sunderland Post Match

Obviously played crap but it's all about the points now. We've been poor most of the season & I can't see that magically changing, so as long as we manage to keep picking up the points then I don't really care how.

Hart MOTM.

Was always going to be a hard game tonight given the amount of games we have played and how long the Sunderland players have had to rest since there last game. Those predicting 4/0 were clearly clueless as to the amount of effort our team has put in getting to the Carling cup final and the FA Cup 5th round. Shit performance tonight? Who gives a fuck!! 3 points baby

We got sucked into their 100mph kick and rush game, but overall I thought they barely threatened and throughout the second half I felt we were more likely to score than they were. Not a brilliant performance but a good solid one at the back, and a vital 3 points in a season where too many of those type of games have been draws.

Disappointing that Pellegrini picked Ya Ya for this one. With utter predictability they started running through our midfield in the first half. The formation change at half time eased the problem, and they went route one/channel balls from deep. I thought we stood up to it pretty well and if we were bang on form would have carved them open on the break.

We are coming into a run of results just when it matters most.

Its worth remembering that in addition to the extra games we've played this year Sunderland haven't had a game for ten days. Its an excellent result considering.

Good point regarding how many games we have played. Also didn't realise that Sunderland hadn't played for 10 days.

LOL Fat Sam saying the reason our players didn't like being elbowed is cos they're foreign. Have another burger Sam.

So he admits they were elbowed?!?!

Retrospective action in that case... although that's no use to us now

I thought both centre halves, the Ferns, Joe and Kun can hold their heads up after that, I would like to see a lot more from the others though. We looked like the relegation threatened side today, some of our passing was dismal.

At 89 mins my missus walks in and says 'are you winning?' Anyone who knows the unwritten rules of football knows that usually means a last min equaliser from the opposition, especially away at Sunderland.

To win 0-1 away at Sunderland, midweek, in a game like that should not be underestimated.

A lack of fitness or not, everything Silva touches at present turns to mush.

He is gifting cheap possession and has become something of a liability, if there can be such a thing when it comes to my favourite ever City player.

Time to start talking Leicester up as title contenders, had a free ride until now when it comes to playing without pressure.

They will find out what it's all about this Saturday.

Personally thought he played well compared to his last few games. Navas and Toure(2nd half) gave the ball away far more.

Staggered by some blues defeatism about the game on Saturday , we are showing the grit and resolve needed over the past month , a sight for sore eyes

We are at home , we will beat them , we will put a marker down , I'm confident we will win the league

Everyone of our squad has now been injured now at some stage, something seriously wrong somewhere yet no one admits it at the club.
Utterly shambolic, let's hope Pep revamps the medical department when he comes.

Hahahaha OMG I know exactly what you mean it's got to the point where I won't let her in now when I'm watching the game.

No away games now for a month in the league. We really need to play a second team in the FA cup and hope for the best because it's the least important game of the next 6 and the key players need to stay fit for Kiev/Liverpool/Liverpool. A 9 day rest for 7/8 of them who will he involved in the following games will he essential for the remainder of the season. We might sneak a win but if we don't then for me it's not the end of the world. We are fortunate to be still in with a chance of the league after some of our performances and results this season and that is the one for the players to completely focus on with hopefully a CO cup thrown in.

No disrespect to Sunderland; they scrapped and fought like fuck. But we shouldn't really be hanging on at the end (which we were) against a team in their position in the table. Whatever happened to imposing our will on the opposition, instead of it being the other way around. And I wouldn't mind, but we got off to a decent start with the early goal. Very frustrating, but three points is three points at the end of the day. We'll need to up the performance by several notches at the weekend though.
Pellegrini's teams can't handle any pressing and harrying.
