Sunderland Vs City Post Game Discussion Thread

Right, I have just watched this game 3 times, apart from the result, what disappointing performance is being debated here?
We played great football, mostly passed well, maybe could've shot sometimes instead of pass and looked good.
Sunderland put their life's on the line, they dived, blocked, closed down and parked the bus.
The foul on Zaba wasn't given and they fluked a goal under Joes arm and yes he then went on to make some excellent saves. I counted 11 blocks by Sunderland players on a goal bound ball and at least half a dozen super stops by Mignolet. On another day we could've had at least 6.
We were unlucky not disappointing.

It happens in football. Ask Barcelona when Celtic did them or when Chelski parked the bus against them and got the result. These things happen, there is no God given right to win.

True, I did spend the first 30 minutes thinking how well we were playing. But the criticism you read isn't about yesterday. We've been sub par all season and when we lose it just makes people reflect on the fact that something is not right. Had we been 7 points clear and scoring for fun, and then lost yesterday, I doubt you would have seen the same reaction.

Said yesterday we played well after watching again.

I understand heat of the momentband alcohol play a part but the reaction was needlessly and disgustingly OTT. The abuse which many players and Bobby got on Bluemoon was embarrassing and sad.
I saw posts slagging most players which was totally unjustified and after watching the match again and again I just don't understand how people can react like that even if it had been a terrible performance which IMO it certainly wasn't.
Almost all of these same players give me the best days of my life (save my children being born) and regardless of how I would perceive any current performance by them I would never publically berate them with the venom which appeared on Bluemoon yesterday. Yes I may not agree with some of Bobbys decisions and will get frustrated at certain players from time to time but I would never, never, publically attack those very people who made my City dreams come true!

I am like you in that respect, but it is a forum and people change when they their fingers hit the keyboard, most of them are just venting, the world could do with more like me and you :-)

Some of you guys are utterly lost.

You can have a million shots on target and never score one if there are 11 men behind the ball. You can't blame "not clinical enough", etc when you're getting 10+ shots on target in a match.

The very problem exists in the fact that we allow them to stack players behind the ball. We pass the ball around the back just like 2010-2011, in which we barely scrapped 3rd place. This isn't the players' fault, this is a tactics issue. Sergio was completely isolated for most of the match, meaning he couldn't make his usual runs on goal.

You can't blame the players when the buildup is slow as piss, there is no width, no wide players, and we're trying to pass the ball through 11 men. Doesn't take a genius to determine that won't work. The disappointing part is that Mancini watched us nearly throw away the points last week after the same tactics, he knows shitty Sunderland will pull the same thing... and its the same tactics again.

This is almost completely a tactics issue. Only shitty tactics can make four strikers be totally useless over half a season. Only shitty tactics would bring a Centerback, that scores once or twice a season, on in the last few minutes of a match to try and get something out of it. Mancini has proven time and time again that when things aren't working, he cannot make the necessary adjustments on the fly to open teams up.

Good look on things but the fact still stands that this happens in a lot of games, so it ain't luck.

No no no, we didn't score so the whole performance must've been abysmal /sarcasm

Most 'fans' do not understand the game of football tbh

If you think we played well at Sunderland then you don't understand football. We have barely played well this season except for a few games or half games here & there. That is what is worrying people. We should be playing better with the players that we have. In the games we have played in December, we were poor against Reading, Sunderland, Dortmund, Everton & a half each against United & Newcastle. We played well first half against Newcastle & Second half against United when we were already two down. That is two halves of football out of 6 games! That is not good enough with the players & investment that we have.

I think the only fans who don't understand football are the ones in denial about our performances.

We were rotten against Sunderland and reading

Hahaha, fuck off you clueless c.unt. Next you'll be telling me that Sunderland dominated the game and we were lucky to only lose by 1.

Fact is I'm not a wrist-slasher and prefer to deal in reality. Going by your logic we played well about 5 times all of last season.
