Sunderland Vs City Post match Discussion Thread

The amount of people who claimed on here that I was abusing illicit substances for claiming we would struggle to make top 4

How opinions shift eh?

A lot of people thought Cardiff was an aboration given it was their first home game etc.

I didn't and its set the tone for insipid performances throughout the campaign to date.

Lets hope the players prove both of us wrong in the coming weeks.

Before losing to Sunderland we had won 3 out of 4 away games and bossed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge for long periods, when you lose 3 players due to injury and two more through rotation ( that's nearly half the team) poor results can occur.

But when you don't need to use rotation you might not get the poor result!!

I am struggling to summarise yesterday's result. Yet again we were the better team. Yet again sloppy defending cost us and yet again we lose away from home. We were the better side and had so many chances, but we didn't really test their keeper. It wasn't like the Spuds v Newcastle game where you can say Spuds really were unlucky and could not do much more to win the game. It was an opportunity missed and I can't help but feel that City keep on missing opportunities. To win the league you have to make the most of your rivals slipping up. Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham all failed to win. We are still in touch and there is a long way to go in the season but we cannot keep missing these opportunities.

with Kompany out with a mid to long term injury, Silva. Nastasic and Fernandinho also out, why was the team further disrupted by changing both fucking fullbacks.

and how many times are Sunderland going to get away with fouls. Larsson should have walk for his foul on Garcia and Bardsley foul on Milner when scoring.

having said all that MP majorly at fault here yet again. get a grip before our title challenge leaks away to fuck all through your team selections and tactical errors.

Micha why was you stood stock fucking still high up the field in their half during two attacks, it looked like you were thinking what to have for tea while the game went on around you. i was gob smacked never seen anything like that in a professional game.

i`m not a Micha hate i think he can offer a lot to the team but ffs.

I could see your point if he'd rotated Negredo, Aguero, Nasri or Yaya. But the fullbacks that played yesterday have plenty of experience playing for City, and are not appreciably worse than the players they replaced. Many City fans believe that Kolarov is playing better than Clichy this season, Micah has more than a few supporters. Pellegrini had every right to bring them in an expect them to do a job.

I thought there was a strong case for playing Navas rather than Garcia, but then I've criticised Pellegrini for being too attacking away from home so cant really complain about the team he put out yesterday. It should still have been more than good enough to win.

The performance was much more of a concern than tactics or selection issues.

Agreed, madness changing 3 of the back 4, Zab should have started and been captain.

Can we just stick to the facts? Nasty was injured and uavailable

There are strong suggestions that Clichy is also managing or recovering from injury, and if anyone is claiming that the game was lost because of the full-backs then its pointless discussing anything. You play In midweek, and have a big squad, you rotate where you can leaving positions like central defence alone unless its the League Cup etc.

no a case of whether they are better or worse. we`ve just had a 7-0 and a 5-2 WINS with the same team, what with the international break coming up why would you want to change a winning team other than through injuries. we looked disjoint throughout the team.

heard the team selection as we got to the ground on the Monton branch coach we talked about the possible outcome, as upsetting as it was it came as no surprise

But my point is that we are NOT playing midweek this week, unless someone hasn't told me about a match!! We don't play again until 24th November. So, apart from injuries, why did we need to rotate? If Zaba is carrying an injury fair enough but he should have been on the pitch from the start!!

Yes I know it is an International break BUT, as I have said earlier, we are paying their wages and therefore they should play for us regardless.
