Super Joey Hart?

Hart's fault all day long. Stupid, unessasary pass from a player who doesn't learn from the same mistakes. Yes he made a great penalty save and yes he makes great stops throughout games but for every four or five of those he makes an error that costs a goal.

He saved the penalty brilliantly...he was instructed to go short as per Simon mulluck. Fernando had a heavy 1st touch ...of course there are some aspects he has to improve....he is supposedly entering the peak as a goal keeper and he will only improve under pep.

It was needless at that stage of the game. We had just scored and needed the sting taking out with it being only minutes to half time.
PSG were pushed quite high so even if Fernando wouldn't have made the cock up we'd have found ourselves under unnecessary pressure. His pass wasn't a poor one in the sense it was mishit or anything, it was a poor one because it was the wrong choice.
The back four at this moment in time aren't comfortable enough on the ball for us to be risking it.
His penalty save was obviously the highlight but then we all know that he's more than capable of pulling off stunning saves. Once again it was his decision making that was the problem for me. The days of a keeper making an important catch in the 18 yard box to take pressure off his defenders seems to have long gone. Sadly.

Thing is mate, Nando came to the edge of the area looking for the ball, Joe has been instructed to play it short when it's on. Ibra was 10 yards away from Nando when Joe played the pass, when Nando received the ball he had Otamendi in the right back position with Cavani around 12 yards off him. It was simple basic stuff, Nando plays the ball back to Otter who then switches it to Mangala in acres of space on the other side as Ibra has been sucked in, simple stuff, no risk, well apart from bad control of a simple pass.

I give up, I just don't believe what I read on here sometimes. I'm far from a lovestruck fanboy but the blaming of JH for Fernando (a player of 186 top level appearances) having the touch of a rapist, I'm speechless

I just didn't think it was neccessary in the first place. I'd have understood if he had played the earlier ball out to Otamendi but once he decided against that bringing Fernando into play was a risk. It comes down to the fact we don't normally use that tactic, if, as I read last night Hart has been told to play it short more (which makes perfect sense considering his options with a long punt) then I can understand why he'd look at the options available in a dead ball situation. To me though, if that option was Fernando on the edge of the box with PSG players pushing up and it being 5 minutes to half time, just after we'd scored, it would have gone as long and as wide as I could hit it.

When you watch keepers pass the ball out short more often than not you will see it played to a central player who then one touch sprays it wide left/wide right to create the space and allow the central player to turn and face the field of play. Not always but more often than not.

Those comments are all very well but Joe should have been weighing up the positions of the various players and thinking "What IFs" - if I play it short the opposition players may be onto our player in a flash. Perhaps I should boot it long just to delay any danger.
He obviously hasn't played Chess where players are always thinking many moves ahead.
Joe may not be at fault (totally) but he made a bad decision that Fernando exacerbated.

Its not a pattern of play we have done often enough. If it was a huge part of our game and all players were well drilled in their respective jobs then I'd be more comfortable.
Like I've said, my main problem with it was purely down to not thinking it was the right choice at that stage of the game.

Simply not Joe's fault; these things happen and a heavy touch gave Ibra a chance. I would much rather play it out from the back than concede possession 50% of the time with a long ball up field. It was a bad touch from Fernando and nothing more.

Ibra was 10 yards away from Nando mate, 10 yards.

Not sure about Joe - seems a true blue and very committed but if he played for Stoke I don't think he would be Englands Number 1. Makes good saves but also poor distribution and I thought he made two or three bad errors last night.

Well lets put it this way if city sell Hart there will be a big fee with lots if interested clubs
Fernando will be free transfer and contract paid up to him.
joe is world class
fernando is not even premier league quality. Same goes for mangala bony and demechelis
you watch. Guardiola will not tolerate the dross we have and they will he bombed out very quickly

Crazy post..absolute hatchet job on here

Not heard one bit of criticism of joe this morning, in work on the radio, in the papers, on other forums...bluemoon seems to be a parallel universe sometimes

Pathetic..

Seeing that why did Hart play it to the player who had an opponent nearest to him?

A better ball would have been to his right away from the goal to Otamendi who was in acres of space. He passes to Fernando and points at Otamendi, just give it to him in the first place you idiot.

As I have stated previously Hart does not appear to learn from the mistakes he makes.

The hacks seem to be desperate to pin blame on hart for Fernando being unable to trap a ball, or to pass it back to Hart, or to be able to pass it to where Hart was pointing. Any number of reports state that Hart should have given him a shout - it looked like he did to me, and the pointing looks fairly clear.

Football hacks now spin like tops.

The more I look at it the more I blame it on Hart. Fernando didn't look like he was ready nor was he expecting a pass for Hart, because Zlatan was right there beside him, I mean why would Hart pass to him when there's an opponent beside him. Even if Hart shouted at Fernando and he didn't hear it, he could still just pass it anywhere else and it would've been fine.

Otter had two yards more space than Nando, you can tell the yardage by the pitch markings. If Otter is in acres then Nando is too.
