Super League Aftermath.

No but I'll bet they'll have attracted plenty of viewers during and after beating Madrid away from home. Which is the point of what you're saying no?

But actually you're right.. we should just watch the same 14 'big teams' play each other every year, nobody wants to watch anything else. Imagine they'd done that 30 years ago ffs
so have you watched them since they beat Real or are you just making assumptions ?

"The first humiliation of Real Madrid's second galactic age arrived in the Copa del Rey last night, when Manuel Pellegrini's side were hammered 4-0 by Alcorcón from Spain's regional Second Division B, Group II."

Real got trashed by Alcorcon back in the day , maybe Alcorcon deserves a spot in the CL because ,like Sheriff , they also beat Real Madrid. They mustve been a quality team !!!
Logic...

The clubs want to sell their own products directly. They don't need Sky any more because technology enables them to control their own broadcasting. The only way UEFA can survive is to change totally. It has a future as a regulator (perhaps) but not as a commercial rival to the clubs it is supposed to regulate. Likewise the ESL will only succeed if it finds a way of preserving the football pyramids in each country and making sure there is no closed shop for the Cartel clubs. Maybe UEFA and the ESL clubs can come to some sort of deal. Either way SKY is doomed, which is why they have been so biased and dishonest in their coverage of the ESL saga.

the premier league is sky based and both go hand in hand
this is why they have all the clubs tied up to the premier league because they control the tv rights not the clubs
clubs owning and selling their own rights will kill the game in a week because of one club united ?

the premier league and its clubs need and show 3pm kicks off's in the uk ? this will open the market up and become a all new ball game and much high income for clubs. at the moment there is 3 or 4 package deals for the premier league games in the uk. but if the 3pm kick offs become available then clubs could control the showing of games themselves

I agree that clubs like United and Liverpool have more to gain from managing their own TV rights because they have the biggest audiences but they need competition from other big clubs to maximise that revenue. Meanwhile City and Chelsea have also become major TV attractions in places like the USA so we would not be that far behind.
There are huge risks involved but I think it is inevitable that football will follow boxing down the pay-per-view route (though I hope it does not become as expensive as boxing). The technology is too simple. Can you imagine the sort of revenues generated from a City-United or United-Liverpool pay-per view clash. The clubs could make more money on that single match than they get in a whole season now. At present the clubs are being ripped off by SKY and UEFA.
I am not saying I welcome all these changes but I think they are coming whether we like it or not. Perhaps one day a portion of the huge TV revenues could be used to heavily subsidise ticket prices for matchgoing fans. That would be one way to appease the hard-core supporters.

the truth is united and liverpool don't care about the competition and other clubs.
their fans love nothing more than them winning every game. 99% of the tv fan base don't no what competition they are playing in each week ? its just a badge and game to them

Martin Samuel has done another excellent piece in the Mail. Whilst it is calling out the clubs opposed to the take over at Newcastle it, to me, also highlights what would happen if we had a super league.
It might sound great Real Madrid v City, rags v Barcelona but the truth is the billionaire Americans would ensure the only winners are them. Rules would be changed, money wouldn't be divided equally. Teams like Atalanta and Newcastle would never be allowed to prosper. It would be the same old teams year after year and it would be boring and shite.

Just have Rags, Scousers, Madrid and Barcelona in one league. Let them play each other every week and award a trophy after every match. Leave the rest of us to get on with proper footer
