Super League Aftermath.

Bump

Verdict out tomorrow 8.30pm GMT

It's not the verdict, but it is a step towards it. My bet is that it will uphold the right of clubs to set up competitions outside of UEFA (competition law) but will also uphold UEFA's role as governing body (ESM). Meaning the ESL could be set up, but only within a sporting framework dictated by UEFA. Both parties can claim a win, and that the other loses. And nothing else happens. Let's see.

I simply can’t see this being sustainable. Think it would have been a disaster for the clubs involved. Don’t think the notion will ultimately work. Don’t believe there’s the demand or appetite for this ‘product‘ and too much naked resistance for this to succeed.

I genuinely believe it would be a huge mistake for those involved.

The same. It's the Leicesters and Montpelliers of the world that get us watching football.

Agree 100% GDM, there really is nothing there for the MSM to sink their teeth into. If it's true that sides like Trafford united can count on their 900 million fans to support them in perpetuity then good luck and I hope you win the prize. Eventually, they will come to the realization that it's all a fantasy fostered by their own blatant lies

Well if it goes in favour of the history clubs this morning! I wonder what those clubs do.!?

So say Madrid Barcelona A Madrid Juventus Milan clubs and a few others all resign from uefa and go of on there own with the super league, how would that effect champs league money wise?

It would hurt the Champions League revenue for a decade or so, but after that not so much. You have to remember that (bar Real Madrid), at the start of the European Cup, Wolves were the top English side, France had probably the strongest league in Europe, Liverpool and Bayern were non entities along with Juve and PSG straight out didn't exist. Things change and despite all of the rags' batshit claims more people support other clubs than these clubs.

I can't help thinking that a European League may not be a bad idea for the bigger non-PL leagues in Europe, with the national leagues underneath and supported. A EURexit if you like, with the PL on one side and a European league on the other. Two confederations in US terms. Both under UEFA, but better quality games every week in Europe to match the PL, with the added revenue that brings. Promotion and relegation. Play-offs at the end of the season to crown European champions, if you have to.

That isn't what the big European clubs want, though. They want their cake and everybody else's too.
