Superbia in Proelio/Praelia

see im confused now lol
Has someone dropped a clanger with the wording on the badge then? Its not correct is it?

The wording on the badge is correct, but the font they used looks a bit like an "a" rather than an "o". It is definitely Superbia in Proelio though.

I've got a city tat, it's the badge but designed very different. It is 100% an O, it's just the style of writing making it look like an a because of the flick on the O. You can see my tattoo on the citymancs website just search for chrisuk23

As always, Gary James gave the definitive answer on this question a couple of weeks ago.

I can't remember which it was, though...!

The answer is/was: Proelio

One of the reasons it has been mis reported over the years is that in 1997 when it was launched a newspaper report (I think it came from the Club's own press release but I cannot be certain) said it was proelia. I was given this same message because I was entering the final days of the production of "Manchester The Greatest City" and quickly included the 'incorrect' details in the last chapter. So if you read that book you'll see it is wrong! (sorry!).

When the 2nd edition was produced in 2002 somehow I missed updating it, so it was still wrong. I (eventually!) got it right in the Complete Record, but ideally I need to produce an updated "Manchester The Greatest City" and make sure that has all the latest factual info in it.

I am planning on getting a new tattoo soon and i have decided i want to get the scroll from the club crest at the top of my back. I have had a look on wikapedia and it suggest the writting on the crest is incorrect and should read

Superbia in Proelio

rather than current crest

Superbia in Praelia

Is this acurate information and have the club got it wrong?

just get mcfc in six inch high letters i`ll know if you do i`ll hear the screams of pain :)

just been on a latin translator putting proelia or proelio into it brings up translation battle and putting in proeli brings up battle as well as proelium must have different words with the same meaning

i could have got that wrong just put battle in the translator and it comes back with proeli or proelium
