Supermarkets

A regular performance of ours and may the good Lord forgive us for our misdemeanor. We were challenged once so we had to pay, so I asked the till lady to readjust our shopping bill by 30 pence to cover our advertising work. She was ever so apologetic but couldn't comply, so we turned the shopping bag inside out, filled it up and trotted off.
I bet you're the kind of person who scrapes the car dealers sticker of the inside of your rear window on your car, aren't you. Or any other decals or signage appertaining to the manufacturer of your smoker in the car park.

Asda is the same but everyone is even fatter.
You must shop in the same Asda as me.

Just like local pubs, my nearest supermarket is very quiet. I think people are feeling the pinch with mortgages and shopping on a budget. Add that to deliveries and it’s easier to get around.

Recently moved near a Lidl, realised how much cheaper it is and also a better experience than the cramped aisles of other supermarkets.

I used to think Aldi was great value, but of late prices have risen and the quality seems to be getting worse. Asda is pretty much the same price and certainly with their fresh veg it seems to last longer. e.g Used to quite happily get a week and a bit out of say a bag of carrots from Aldi, now you’re lucky if they last 4 days before they start to go off. Now I know a bag of carrots is hardly expensive but it should be lasting longer than that.

On average less than 10% of sales are online and all the big 4 are making record profits , sainsburys last year making over 650m profit, and they still sit in second behind Tesco. Despite your experience they are riding the wave of a boom in regards sales and profits.
Driven by small mini marts in residential areas

My biggest gripe with supermarkets is all the fruit and veg wrapped in plastic. People tend to leave their stuff in the bags and it goes off quicker because it sweats. I was in a supermarket in the US yesterday and all the fruit and veg was loose; no platic. I visit New Zealand a lot and there is hardly a plastic bag in sight. The buy net bags to put their fruit and veg in and reuse them over and over (they are readily available over here). When I buy fruit and veg I take them out of the plastic and use my net bags and leave the plastic with the person at the till. If everyone did that perhaps they would stop doing it.

Of course you can get around the plastic by shopping at your local market but they are getting fewer and fewer. The supermarkets are killing them off.

These yellow stickers showing price reductions are a pretty good deal. You can get quite a bit off your weekly shopping bill if you time it right. Sundays 30 minutes before 4.00 closing usually decent pickings. Midweek evenings too. Mainly stuff near sell by date but okay in freeze.
I usually end up shopping either when there’s only 10% off or when the reduced section is empty

Because I'm not paying 30p for the privilege to advertise their wares. More neck than a Giraffe and if you have to pay then turn your bag inside out.
Mr Bob, where should I start ? First, I said 'take a bag with you'. That means you could go to Tescos, purchase their wares and produce, from your coat pocket, a Sainsburys bag. Load the said purchased items into the rival bag, turn to the snooty assistant and say 'up yours, you'll get no free advertising from me'. You then walk out the store with a smug grin on your mush.
Just don't forget your wallet otherwise you have to sheepishly re enter the shop to collect it.
