Surreal Moments at City Games

Remember being there for Christian Negouai's handball goal at Maine Road against Rotherham in 2001. There was a bit of a cheer but about half stadium didn't know whether to celebrate or not because we'd all seen him punch it in, but then ref gave the goal and nobody knew what to do. We all knew what Negouai had done and we were just waiting for the whistle, but when it never came there was barely a cheer in the Kippax where I was sat, just a light ripple of stunned applause that the only two people in the stadium who hadn't seen it were the ref and the linesman.

Was Palace away if I remember rightly?
Yes well remembered. There were so many other games going on no one was streaming ours to Kuala Lumper and elsewhere so no one could watch it. Suddenly a post came on here, presumably the match day thread, from Josh ? and we all had the match complete with him cutting away from the action to show City fans singing. Far better than Spitty and his mate.

Hitting the woodwork 3 or 4 times in the FACup away at Notts County only for some cnut called Gary Lund to score at the end to knock us out.
Thought like many it could be our year that season. Also remember the food fight in the back of the van on the way home that day

Bellamy being sent off at Bolton when the referee adjudged him to have simulated in the box, when he was fouled. The thing that made that odd was his first yellow card was given to him at the end of the first half walking off the pitch and no one in the ground knew he had already been booked. That was odd.

A Spurs game at Maine Road 80s? when we left the field after about 10mins because of a colour clash and changed into our away kit.

The final home game vs Dippers in 1996 when at 2-2 we needed to a win to avoid relegation but based on false info on the score in another game affecting relegation somebody thought a draw was enough and instructions were issued for us to waste time.
And sure enough the team did waste time and lost all the momentum they had going and then when the error was realised it was far too late.
In the crowd we knew the correct scores in the other games and that a win was needed and went absolutely mental at what was going on.
It was indeed surreal.

Wasn't there a CL game away to Munich a few years back when we were on top, had already qualified but had we got another goal would have got the bonus of topping the group?
Nobody at the club seemed to realise this and we ended up defensively playing the game out.

Having the Red Devils parachute team being booed as they landed in the centre circle. In fact that whole evening was bizarre. Think we booed everything from the cheer leaders to the shit band. No wonder the premier league have it in for us.

Not entirely sure, but I think I read that, after the game, the ref' admitted that he was so pissed off with Bellamy being in his ear, whining and complaining all game, that he was just waiting for an excuse to send him off.
Refs' were sometime interviewed then.
