Swansea fans haven't sold out

We've been through a boom period for football attendances. I think that's peaked and is starting to decline. Fans are becoming more and more selective about which matches they go to eg City not selling out our CS allocation. Even united are having to work harder to sell tickets.

I think we'll see more and more partly filled grounds. Cant see us selling out our CL home matches and I expect the attendances for domestic cup matches will be abysmal.

Hey guys, Swansea fan in peace here. Regarding a post earlier made by someone about our average away attendance last season and how many we will be bringing up to you. Our average away attendance was around 1,000 and we have around 350 tickets left of the 2,800 you gave us. The atmosphere will be fantastic im sure as we outsung pretty much every team last season :) Good luck
It's just that a thread on one of your forums was about how many tickets you'll get (6,000 was muted - even though we've never given any team more than 2,800 in a Premier League game) and some of your fans mocked our empty seats despite averaging 46,000 in the league last season when our ground only holds 47,300 or so. As I'm sure you can figure out plenty of that figure is the away fans not selling out (large majority don't - even Spurs, Newcastle and Sunderland last season), especially when we've got teams like Fulham who bring a bus load up. Not bad for a team who hadn't won anything for 35 years until last season whilst our neighbours dominated domestic football for twenty of them; our lost generation. Can any other fanbase in the footballing world claim to have so many fans turn out in those circumstances?

Our cup attendances were far less impressive but you're playing us in the league now. Congratulations.

Unfortunately you most likely will outsing us. It's a problem at the Etihad. The banter's usually good though. Any team with a sense of humour will enjoy their visit. I hope it's not spoiled by the small INGERLAND brigade. It happened against Celtic in pre-season a couple of years back so it will almost inevitably happen against Swansea. Apologies in advance.

Dont blame Swansea fans for not selling out. Blame SKY. There decision to put this on a Monday night is a farce

Agree 100%.

Some posters are saying that Swansea should sell out their first ever Premier League game so by the same thinking, we should sell out our first Champions League game but we won't.

There are many things that affect attendance; cost of tickets, cost of travel, kick off time etc.

Atmosphere last season was the best I can remember as a City fan largely because of the football and results. The whole ground doing the Poznan at the same time? If you told me we could do that this time 12 months ago, I wouldn't have believed it.

Three years ago almost to the day we opened the 2008-9 season with a 3-0 home win against West Ham. That was with Hughes as manager and with Elano in the team. We got just over 36,000 to the game. And it was a Sunday Kick-off. And West Ham brought 1,200, half what Swansea will bring, and Swansea travel on a Monday night which must put off thousands of their fans

I remember that Ipswich/Norwich week well. Must be over 12 years ago that. Gang of us city lads hired a boat on the broads for a week moored up in Yarmouth and went to the Ipswich game..... We then sailed to norwich and right upto carrow road as the canal runs around the back if the ground. Became a booze boat, we were all just pissed. Great way to get to match tho.

Ipswich on the Tuesday night (lost 1-0), and Norwich on the Friday night (drew 0-0) IIRC. Got the coach with the Leve branch to Ipswich. For Norwich, my mate drove and we stayed over. Phoned a B & B up before we left and tried to book it but the owner who sounded a few dolly mixtures short of a quarter said don't worry, just book it when you get down here. Had a feeling it would bite us on the arse and it did - when we arrived all the rooms had gone to other blues so the owner put us up in another place that looked like no-one had stayed in for years and bore more than a passing resemblance to the Villa Bella in "The Jolly Boys Outing" episode of Only Fools And Horses!

there is just no money about, the london clubs(and i include utd in that) will fare better as we are poorer up here. the south has always had a few more quid than up here.do you think that if a team like united were based down south and their gloryhunters were actually from manchester they could afford to traipse down the 200 miles to watch them up to 3 times a week? not a chance.
the plastics do so cos they can afford the travel and the tickets, lol it must cost them thousands just to say "my team wins things".

rather be a manc, skint, proud and not a hint of plastic.

I feel for the Swansea fans....monday night away for their first Prem game. Ouch! Seems very harsh.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Sky PL fixtures.

Anyone remember our worst kick off time in recent years....11am sunday morning for Everton at home. I can still remember trying to chug down a pint of lager before kick off (cant enter the ground 'dry'). Very uncivilized indeed.

I see your 11AM Sunday and raise you 18:00 on a Thursday against Dynamo Kiev.

Hi swansea fan here, I'm amazed we haven't sold out!!

The monday night on sky probably put alot off. We have a new system aswell where you get points etc for tickets (which we've never had before). Alot of our fans are "plastics" aswell and are picking and choosing the "bigger games" to go to. So we'll sell out Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool but hardly any of the others.

This could be my last away game until christmas (due to work etc) and so I have to be there tomorrow.

I'm hoping it'll be a good game and a shock is on the cards!!

Also you do have to remember everywhere is about 3 hours + away from us!! It takes an hour to Cardiff and then you still have another 2 to go until you get to London!!
