He may have suffered a last minute lack of confidence cheeses due to his gingerism? After all, some of us would find this more harrowing than finding out that they do prefer 'man love'

Prime example is in the 'full monty' Our ginger friend in that quickly realised that man love was what he was craving as earlier in the film he'd tried to top himself due to his gingerism/lack of personality. When he found out the real reason, he'd turned into a new man.....literally!
