SWP

Shaun was dreadful tonight, a lot of you are overlooking this by pointing to other players' performances as some sort of justification which is just plain daft. If you look at SWP's individual performance as a neutral the only conclusion you can come to is that he was shite.

All I could think of while watching SWP endlessly concede possession and stumble over the ball was how Johnson must have felt, we were all watching a prime example of why he was deemed more useful at club level than his more "experienced" counterpart, and as such why he kept him out of the side for 5 months.

All Capello had to do was pay a little more attention on his occasional visits to CoMS and he would have realised what we all knew months ago, but now it's probably only starting to sink in after tonight's game and SWP is in SA while Johnson is sitting at home watching his inferior counterpart on the telly.

If he'd have tested the water in the friendlies this could've been avoided, it's an absolute travesty Johno isn't in SA.

had the chance to make himself a hero when put in by Shrek, had to keep the ball low, made it easy for Howard.

Skilful but very primitive. Not good enough for England

sadly not good enough for us either. He's so frustrating to watch because you know he's going to run into trouble as soon as he gets the ball.

he's about as predictable as what happens when you go for a shit.

defenders worked him out after 5 minutes, unfortunetely for him he no longer has any variety in his game, one thing he did have, now he just looks so uncomfortable on the ball at times.
He's better on the right. The other players were playing in the positions they play for their clubs

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

how quick some forget eh :)

Why are people having a go at Sweep ????
Who decided to play "square pegs in round holes ??????????"
Lets be honest about this.
Who, other than Cole and Barry, are naturally a left peg player ????????
NO POOR TWAT !!!!!!!!!!
Adam Johnson would have been the FAR BETTER choice than SWP but thats not SWEEPS fault !
I would have a good bet that Barry will be back on Friday,FULLY RECOVERED or not !!
And that is not a dig at Sweep.Hell Lennon hardly got a decent ball over,Lamps was non existent,Rooney well below his best and two bleeding crocks in King and Milner !!!!!!!!!!
Christ, where's the grammar/punctuation/'WTF' police!!!!!?????!!!!!!!!????????????????????

Didn't think he did too badly considering he was on the left. I don't understand people saying it doesn't matter if the team played badly because that doesn't exonerate SWP. I find that strange considering that football is a team game and bad team performances will tend towards poor individual performances. That said, I would have taken Johnson over SWP. Still, even if I was in Capello's shoes yesterday, I would have had Joe Cole starting on the left with SWP on right and then brought on Lennon after about sixty minutes to let him run at tiring American legs. Also, I wouldn't have played Heskey. Yes, I get that he's there to provide support for a certain Shrek lookalike but I don't think that's enough justification as I don't think Shrek is the only route to goal. Heskey missing a couple of chances I'm convinced Crouch would have put away proved to me at least that his role is net negative. I would have had Joe Hart in goal n'all. From where I'm sitting, not only is Joe more talented, he's also more confident - which I can't stress enough how important I believe that to be for a keeper.

fukin joke he is in ahead of AJ - Lennon wasn't much better though...

you're the fuckin joke. Singling out one of ours and then telling us four times on the 1st page how 'shit' he is. Suppose you thought Looney was magnificent eh?

SWP was played on the wrong side. He has always been a right sided player whether at full back, winger or midfield.

He was poor but playing him on the left won't help matters.

Lennon was just as bad and was playing in his natural position.

This
Major balls up by Copout, i mean Capello for not taking a natural left footed winger when one was staring him in the face and standing out in training.
Seems every time he does pick SWP its always on the left
