Hopefully, some experts will attend to the tree and chamfer the stump, then seal it, thus preventing water causing possible rot.
It's not dead yet, but it's had one hell of a shock.
It's a bit like having your limbs chopped off, you can survive, but it's never a good day.
It will grow new shoots in the spring, several in fact.
These will be left to grow, for a few years, as trees like to fight back when pruned. These shoots will grow like mad, as the tree tries to survive.
Experts will then prune back the new shoots, leaving 2 or 3 that will form the new trunks. Best to have multi trunks just in case of die back etc..
It won't look the same, but it will survive us all if treated correctly.
