Dont want him! He could affect McGivern first team chances! Think ryan could be a good player for us!

Think it could enhance Mcgiverns future prospects. He's 35 , signing a 28 year old would have been damaging to him but a 35 year old gives him time to mature.

Dont want the player but when you think of it this way it would make sense I guess.

Do we really need a 35 year old. Cant see this whats the point.

great left foot - bags of experience - still has pace - good crosser......yeah forget it....he,s shite................................................................................................ffs.

Re: Sylvinho

He'd be great.

We don't have that much experience in our team, especially not players who've won what he has. Too many people are too quick to write off players who are 30+. Sylvinho is class.

Re: Sylvinho

I think he'd be a great addition. As many of you have said he is a proven winner and can only help lads like ryan and zander improve. Provide experienced back-up for bridge also.

Re: Sylvinho

Good for balance of the side to have experienced cover and to build links with the Barca style of play.

Still not sure what vision Hughes has for the way the team will play in three/four years time. At the moment he needs to make best use of what qulaity players we have available, but strenght of teams such as Barca and Arsenal is that they have a style of play, a set formation (which can vary within a match - sometimes play two holding midfield, Xavi as playmaker, Iniesta left, centre forward, Messi right; other times play one holding, Xavi and Iniesta creative midfield, Henry left, centre forward, Messi right - with free interchange of positions.

Barca's high pressing game, using full width of pitch, is something Wenger seems to be attempting to copy. Advantage is that all their youth teams play the same system and therefore can step in to established formation.

Our academy have their own style of play - last two years 4-4-2.

That's a very good point about the youth teams. Ajax, Barcelona, Arsenal and i'm sure others successful academies like Sporting etc play a similar style and formation all the way down through their system. Perhaps Cassell was reluctant to let Hughes have this much input into the academy and that's why he has been moved on? It makes it far easier for young lads to make the step up to the senior team if they don't have to make a huge adjustment to the way they play and IIRC the rumor is that Hughes wasn't happy with how quickly the youngsters were coming through?
