Unconfirmed, but he may not have actually managed to escape after all.
I’ve seen a fair few planes doing this sort of thing on flight radar in the areas that Russia has been messing with GPS.

The main group (the one that has marched through and captured Homs and Damascus) is just a small step down from the level of the religious extremism of the Taliban… who also promised that they will respect others rights, women’s ability to education/life etc…Assad has gone but like gaddafi and saddam it was contained but now it will be a free for all and I would imagine daesh will rise up again and other Islamic groups . There’s also the Kurds and the Turkish backed rebels… so a bit like Afghanistans Northern Alliance.
can’t see Syria being anything but another embattled country for the future ahead - like iraq, Libya and many others when a longtime brutal dictatorship is overthrown.

Whilst HTS was spawned from AQ several years ago, they have been enemies of each other for quite some time. I don’t think it’s possible to predict which way Syria will go but the new regime certainly faces a lot of challenges. It could end up anywhere from full on Taliban-like to an almost free country. Anyone who thinks they know what will happen is deluded. I don’t think most western reporting understands the complexities of the situation there. I certainly don’t.Assad gone now we have the threat of Al-Qaeda instead, it never gets much safer for The West really does it?
