Syria | Assad flees to Moscow as rebels capture Damascus

What are they coming for then ?

Just maybe, to escape this...?

Sednaya Prison (Arabic: سجن صيدنايا Sajn Ṣaydnāyā), nicknamed the "Human Slaughterhouse" (المسلخ البشري),[a] was a military prison near Damascus in Syria operated by the Syrian government. The prison has been used to hold thousands of prisoners, both civilian detainees and anti-government rebels as well as political prisoners.[1][2] The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) estimated in January 2021 that 30,000 detainees were brutally killed by the Assad regime in Sednaya from torture, ill-treatment and mass executions since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war,[3]

Weird how the countries refugees come from are also those in conflict and extreme dictatorship.

Or maybe the war and repression is just coincidence, and Syrians are in fact uniquely greedy and grasping and after [checks notes] £49.18 a week?

Because they either

Speak the language

Have family here

Have community here

Have a belief that we are a welcoming country and a signatory to the UN Refugee Convention of 1951 (which we wrote)
One thing we are is very welcoming as you only have to go to coast everyday to see that .

It's a massive victory for the Turks they will have a vassal state right in the heart of the Middle East it's been speculated that this outcome was engineered by them the weakening of Iran and Russian they aim to be the dominant power in the Middle East (which of course historically they always were, and we can't forget Qatar in all of this

It's a nightmare for israel to have a powerful country right on the border, the Iranians have been seen as a paper tiger (I expect the blowback from this to eventually reach Iran) I believe we are witnessing the partial reformation of the ottoman empire in all but name (and if you can get shares in Turkish Construction Companies because they will be doing all the reconstruction work in Syria and beyond)

Even just the threat of Trump has caused the world to shake. He’s something, so decisive, so brave…he’s awesome!
You don't believe that do you? The massive influence in the Middle East is Turkey it's long been suspected that they have been puling the strings, Syria is an important country for them historically and strategically they have just effectively extended their border right up to Israel
