Mickey Grey earlier was making light of Sagna's reasons for joining City. He speculated the £150,000 per week may have helped the decision making process. I find it hard to believe we are paying that much for a 31 year old deputy full back, but that is the figure that is being commonly bandied around. Does anyone know the true figure?

Don't know but I'd guess £70k plus bonuses. He's not outranking Zaba that's for sure.

It really is pathetic.
They are still trying to insinuate that players are only coming to City " for the money"
I mean , it's not as though we've been particularly successful over the last few years , is it?
It's not as if they want to come to City to win more than one FA cup in 9 years , is it?

Just wait and see the difference between our wage bill and the rags in future with the contracts they're handing out.

The only way i get even close to ts now is reading this thread.

You know what they are like so stop listening like i did if it does nothing for you.
Watch the u21 match instead.

I've had the excuse that United only handed Rooney a £300,000 a week contract as we set the bar by giving Tevez £250,000 a week and Yaya £280,000 a week..

hahahaa.

and as I said previously TS presenters are also clearly there for the money too - If the BBC offered Kelly or the rest a bigger contract would they sign or stay with TS to "preserve their integrity " ? !!!

A ridiculous statement from Murphy but it is guaranteed way of getting in callers to ring in.

To be fair a reasonable assumption and probably seen as valid as from a recently retired ex-pro. What is does show is how far removed Danny Murphy has been from big time football - he has scratched around at places like Fulham so never really been near much success or around the type of top flight contacts and players in the modern game so there is an element of ignorance in the argument.

Understand the sentiment re-him not being at the top level of the game any more but as far as not knowing any success,he was still with the victims when they won the FA, League and UEFA cup in 2001.

To be fair I think Murphy is one of the better pundits. He is usually reasonable & objective. However, lets not forget that he (and all of the others) has a script to work to on talkSHITE.

I think your spot on, he is normally pretty reasonable and talks sense when ive seen him on TV. On TS they are obviously encouraged to be outspoken and opinionated which is clearly what this is. A shoddy effort at trying to get a reaction from blues. Just add it to the list and move on.

13 years ago- which kinda vindicates my original statement - things have come along way in 13 years- eg we were managed by Keegan playing in what is now the championship
