I don’t think there’s been a single World Cup outside of Western Europe where there’s been anything approaching serious disorder. There were bits and pieces in Mexico in ‘86, caused mainly by bad blood over the Falklands but nothing major. Plenty of alcohol available at all the other tournaments.
I’m a bit too young to remember much about West Germany in ‘74, but from memory the only tournaments with major disorder were Spain ‘82, Italy ‘90, France ‘98 and Germany ‘06.
There’s a clear pattern there that isn’t the availability of alcohol.

Who is that person?You Should have listened to Darren Lewis on Thursday night, explaining how it's been the best world cup ever because of the alcohol ban, has resulted in no arrests and has made this world cup fantastic, he then explained how unsafe he will feel in 4 years time in America as a black journalist!
