Taylor Harwood-Bellis - move to Southampton completed.

The pinpoint accuracy of the cross to Pope's head left HB little chance to do much about it I think.

He could of done better ( it was a very good cross but we didn't deal with Amoo too well before) but that will come with time.

I thought he was class today. For someone so young he is so strong and composed on the ball.

We have another gem on our hands along with Doyle and Foden. Mad to think he’s only 17

“I've never been involved in a game with VAR so I didn’t know what to expect. When it went on for longer than I thought I started to think it might be a goal and when it said ‘not offside’ I was buzzing. I thought it was a good finish!"

“John knew it had come off me, but when they said they were checking for offside I said I didn’t mean it. It was just a bit of fun. I thought I was offside so just walked back to the centre circle..."

"There might have been a stop between the goal and the celebration, but it was still the same feeling for me. VAR or not. The ball went in the net so I’ll take it – and celebrate it.”

on playing at the Etihad: “It’s a surreal experience and feeling, getting a goal and another 90 minutes, especially playing in front of a home crowd, making my debut in front of our own fans. It’s a big experience, a proud day for me and my family..."

Playing away from home was a great experience with all the fans, but playing at the Etihad, where I come to watch most of the home games, was weird. But I love it, and want more..."

“I’ve learned more than ever before – the information the manager gives is the best in the world and whatever he says, you take on board. It’s a case of learning from others, listening to the manager and buying into what they say.”

on the League Cup Semi-Final: “I’ll wait to see. If I’m not in the squad, I’ll be in the stand. I will be there either way. It’s different playing with the calibre of players in the first team than in the EDS - I still work my hardest..." [via @StuBrennanMEN]

good lad.

Thought not enough happened at LB to stop the cross. Once that cross came in, it was always Pope with how the cross swung outwards.

Apart from being beaten by a wily and more experienced player for Port Vale's goal , he didnt put a foot wrong ,he doesnt take any prisoners , gets stuck in and is tidy on the ball and has fair turn of pace , the better of our two centre backs today, great to see another local lad pulling the shirt on

The quality of the youngsters coming through is top notch now at city.

They have to be on it from the off which is a credit to EDS.

Hardwood-Bellis had a good game against Port Vale and with the height that he is, he should grow into a lean footballer with good footballing ability.

There is no reason why he can't be one for the future alongside other ones coming through like Foden and Eric Garcia.

For example, look at Angelino. Good player. But probably a squad player at most. Yet he came through our academy and was moved on last year or the year before.

The Academy is now starting to produce first teamers instead of squad players.

Well done Hardwood-Bellis as you've got to perform when you get your chance.

He looked okay.

He got a telling off in the second half from Pep (and even Foden) when he had the ball near the half way line and was under no pressure and he dillydallied on the ball despite numerous options to pass forward. So when we got the ball back Pep made Bravo give it back to Harwood-Bellis in the same position and Pep was rolling his arms as if to say move it quicker this time.

He also fell asleep for their goal.

Would like to see a lot more of him before saying he looks a good prospect.
