Before I start this post I want to clarify that I am absolutely delighted with this appointment. He is a great coach, capable of getting teams playing fantastic football.

I would just caution people to be a little bit less enthusiastic and not to expect too much too early with him. He has a job on when he gets here. There is International competition in the summer. He won't have the players for a full pre-season. He is probably going to change formations and styles. Some notable players are probably going to be moved on.

I've read on here that he is going to make the defenders better by pulling some master stroke with a high press. It isn't that easy. I've read on here that he is going to tell Sterling to take players on, so he'll improve.

I've read on here that he'll integrate youth and they'll be like Busquets and Pedro. He's good but he can't make wine out of water.

If everyone expects him to have us playing like Bayern or Barcelona instantaneously then prepare to be disappointed. We have some serious issues with the playing staff, it'll probably take half a season.

In that half a season, he will be ridiculed as a flop, that he can't cope in the "greatest league in the World". The press will be all over it. He'll go toe to toe with them like Mourinho did.

I'm just worried that blues will have expectations built too high and won't be able to sustain the patience while the changes are made.

Or just wait and see what happens?

The problems are pretty clear and in my mind can be fixed pretty quickly. As the season progresses and in his second and third we will be better but not reason why he can't come in and make an immediate impact like Pellegrini did. This isn't like the job Mancini had.

Fuck off. If the fucker doesn't win 'The' double, the FA Cup and League Title (not that Carling Cup and League nonsense), then he can do one. Yep he can fuck right off, and take Silva and Aguero and KdB and Sterling...........and Bony..........with him.

He's basically the manager that we have moulded our club around since the owners came in, there's been a Pep shaped hole in that dressing room for the last few years. He's the one manager that deserves whatever time he needs because if he can't do it here then at the moment I don't know who could.

For players like Sterling it won't happen over night but with the type of possession football Pep plays he'll certainly get enough time on the ball to improve. At the moment we're spending so little time on the ball against the top teams that we have very few chances to do something with the ball. However with Pep because of his teams' ability to keep hold of the ball we're more than likely going to see a massive technical improvement in the players he keeps on.

At least we would see a city team set up to counter the oppositions strengths and how to attack their weaknesses!! Not like Manuel who just sends the same team and formation out hoping for the best!

Thing is he is selling Silva

None of our U16 want to sign contracts because he is coming

He is already annoyed with City for going to China

And he going to be sacked by Bayern. Why do we want a manager deemed not good enough for Munich

Pep OUT!!

I do agree with the OP in not trying to expect too much, but if the league next year is anything like it is this year, we should win it. I think quarters or semis in Europe and at least semis by year 2.

I think he'll do well to fix this lot in one season but he's the best so he should do it over several.
Few people are saying he will turn any kids into anything. I doubt anyone at all has suggested that.

He may actually use some young players here & there & then perhaps a few may make it, is what's being said. If none of them make it, at least it takes weight off the squad. If a few do make it, great.

I suspect we'll find a few top players & a few squad players out of the next couple of generations. Not specifically because of Pep. Because we have a lot of talent & a few ought to come through under any manager who gives them a chance. Pep being the best, ought to give them the best finish to their education.

I don't expect miracles in his first season. Just a plan & the ability to build something. Which is a huge upgrade on what we have now.
