Tempering the Guardiola Optimism

There is a real danger it will take him a season to get us up and running and playing well (considering how far we have fallen) ...then we only get 2 seasons to win things before he moves on

2 seasons is more than enough to win things and when he does go he will be leaving behind an amazing squad for our next manager.

I'm not disputing that only the fact that if he was inheriting a squad in 'better shape' we might be up and running faster and have success in all 3 seasons

I hope people don't think the transition from underachievers to world-beaters will be a seemless one. I fully believe in Pep but I think we need to be prepared for the initial teething problems next season with the Rag media ready to pounce.

Fuck the media,we know they will try and spoil things but we have pep so they can go swivel lol

True but I can already imagine the naive, knee-jerk 'fans' that we have immediately buying the media narrative of Pep being overrated the second things don't go our way.

Pep isn't a slave to one way of playing. He's the complete pragmatist.

If we can't play one way he'll coach the team to play another. That is the beauty of Pep he will coach the team to win against whoever we are playing. Of course, it doesn't always work but his track record shows a very high % of success.

Exactly.

Exactly this. I wouldn't be surprised if he started a bit shakily, the way Klopp has done at Pool. But, given time, his class is 100% certain to shine through.

I'm tempering nothing. The guy is the absolute antithesis of the shambolic, casual, disorganised, poorly-prepared and under-motivated pile of shit we have become accustomed to seeing in the last year or so. His impact will therefore be immediate and very, very obvious. Exciting times ahead.

If he was here this season with the same players we would be top of the league now, I have no doubt about that, I am looking forward to seeing a team that is playing under instruction rather than hope

ppl going on how pep will do this that and the other ppl must remember most of the squad will arrive back late from the euros and then he wont have time to get them upto speed the way he wants to play ie high pressure game fitness ect

The England players will be back early

Pep will adapt. He will play to the strengths of what he has and systematically work at improving how the team plays.

The most important thing will be the attitude of the players and their willingness to learn and to run. Those that do not pass muster will be moved on but reshaping the squad will take time. Hopefully, there will be several high quality new signings in the summer who fit the profile need for where Pep wants to take the team, which should help him get off to a good start.
