What’s the obsession on here with Emma Raducanu?

Loads of great tennis week in, week out and it barely gets a mention. As soon as something happens with Raducanu, people are all over it.

Raducanu had a fabulous two weeks where she took advantage of a weaker, Covid-wrecked field and won a Grand Slam. Good luck to her and she’ll be able to claim she’s done something that very few post-war British tennis players have done but she’ll never win anything big again.

I think it is because she has talent and won a major early in her career so the media hype is why.

I like her and she's got all the shots in the locker, but the mental side of her game is weak and has gone through so many coaches, She could still be a great player and a major winner again because of her age, but the time is running out trying to change her mental state and play through with little pains and blisters and injuries.

If there is one thing somebody could do is tell her the truth, She is wasting a god given talent that very few get in life
The comfy lifestyle she lives is also a reason why the mental side of her game of being a quitter is far too easy every time she feels a little pain,

She's a multi-millionaire and loves the limelight and nightlife so does she need tennis.

Yes, the level of her talent is exceptional and so people are disappointed in what is happening to her.

Is she really that good though? I mean granted, you have to be good to win a grand slam. But she’s hardly on the level of Swiatek, Sabalenka or Osaka, is she? I’d never bet on her against any of the current top players.

Its because she is very pretty and won a slam. Simples.

She is the most talented player we have had in the modern era other than Andy. Return of serve, ground strokes, taking the ball early, mobility; all outstanding. She is more talented than the three you mention.

Come on! More talented than Iga Swiatek, who has 5 grand slams and will undoubtedly get more?

Yep. Her talent is not in doubt, but her mind and body may be. Which aspects of Swiatek’s game show her to be more talented than Raducanu?

She might be the best female GB tennis player for a long time, but she’s not got the talent to be thought of in the top tier, even without her injuries/mental fortitude.
She could probably get back in the top 10 if she really knuckled down.

The number of title wins and the number of matches she wins. Service, return and all-round game. Metal fortitude, staying power in tough matches, pretty much everything to be honest. The two are not in the same league.

GB doing well in BJK Cup. Might even win it. Not dropped a set yet.
Whisper it quietly: Raducanu looks fit and confident, taking the ball early again.

Loved playing Tennis (at Sportscity) but it's one sport I hate to watch! Can't stand the temperament of a lot of the players, bunch of diva's.

An old mate of mine who's a huge Rugby Union fan went to Wimbledon many moons ago, he said never again, it's too much of a "girly" day out, full of snowflakes.

I got 2 centre court tickets for day 2 next summer in the yearly ballot. I live quite close in south London. Travel through Wimbledon on my commute into office so thought I'd give it a go.

I'm sure you will enjoy it if watching tennis is your thing, tickets will be worth a few quid but there's very strict rules in reselling. Two mates applied a few years ago and both got two tickets for the same day so they flogged a pair, I can't remember exactly what happened and how they were caught out but one of them is now permanently banned from buying tickets.

Good old BBC are showing the Billie Jean King Cup and not bothering with Nadal's match. Despite having the rights to show the Davis Cup, they can't even be bothered for a legend of the game in his final tournament. Pathetic.

I know of a couple of people who have been. One woman used to go often and loved it. You go and enjoy yourself:)

His dominance on clay was ridiculous. Still managed to win 8 more Slams away from Roland Garros though, incredible player.

It was Murray's misfortune that his career happened to coincide with one of the very greatest tennis players the world has ever seen — Federer — followed by, and currently with, one of the greatest tennis players the world has ever seen — Nadal— followed by the third of the greatest tennis players the world has ever seen — Djokovic. (Only Rosewall and Laver, maybe, and possibly Sampras, are in their company in the modern game, I believe. And again it's not certain they could have lived with them, even at their best). It would be a bit like being a damn good team, but locked in a time warp with 70s/80s Liverpool, 90s/noughties United, and 2012-24 City.

You know, I've met Rugby League fans who consider that the Union game is a game of snowflakes! So have you and your friend, probably. (I've got no axe to grind either way, incidentally. I'm no huge fan of the fifteen-man game — unashamedly a fair weather supporter when England are doing well, don't follow any club at all — and the attraction of the thirteen-man game just goes right over my head…)

Sadly uk lost in the semi of the BJK cup. Raducanu won her game in straight sets but Boulter and the doubles team both lost. Only 40 years of hurt so far.
