Tenuous connections to Manchester City players old and new.

One of my dad's uncles, one of the few Rags in the 'extended family' apparently started life as a blue. He said he changed allegiances because the City keeper at the time, Frank Swift, supposedly 'nicked his girlfriend'?
Not sure how true the story was or how far he actually went to the darkside because I remember him supporting Southampton in the 76 FA Cup Final as he said he liked to see the underdog do well!!!
Hope he (Swift) didn’t finger her; he’d have killed her.

My old teacher/Head teacher at my primary school was a huge blue probably apart from my dad was the biggest influence on me being a blue, in his top draw he’d have a sellotaped plastic bag of blond hair his sister was one of the nurses who operated on Bert when he broke his neck he always said this was his prize possession. Never forget when he’d bring it out sounds bizarre now .

Foot note I’ll always remember when he sent me home at lunchtime so I could listen to the re-arranged fog bound game against AC Milan on radio 2 in the afternoon.

We had double English the afternoon of that match. Our teacher brought his radio in and we all listened to it for the duration.

Was it the nurse’s hair? And was it from her barnet?

Back in the late 60s early 70s we use to play 40 aside on the university playing fields at northernmoor and a yet unsigned goalkeeper called Ron Heally was between the sticks. (Think I spelt his name right).

In the early 90s when I used to go out drinking we saw Michael Brown in Hazel Grove and in my pissed state I asked him if he wanted to play in our 5 a side team.

One of Sylvain Distin’s mates used to play football with us on Wednesday nights in Wilmslow and Dustin came down to watch a couple of times.

Uwe Rosler and Maurizio Gaudino went in the Beijing and Kingfisher in Poynton a couple of times and Uwe got a round in for a few of us blues one night.

I worked on a contract in Bristol and Steve Kinseys daughter worked there with me too.
