Tevez [Merged]

On the OS: Not Tevez news but saves starting a new thread.

Club Chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak says that signing another four to six players is the target for Mark Hughes in this summer's transfer window.
The Blues have already brought Gareth Barry into the fold since the end of last season, and in an interview with The National, the English-speaking newspaper of the United Arab Emirates, Mr al Mubarak has stated that the Manager will be targeting more good value purchases.
He says, “We will shrink our squad and add four to six players. Key for us is that we trust Mark and any acquisition is based on his view.”
The arrival of Barry two weeks ago sparked intense speculation in the media as to whom else might arrive at City before the end of August, but the Chairman insists that the Club will be taking a realistic view over possible new arrivals.
"There are two things going on,” he adds. “One, a general view of Arab investors and two, a whole hierarchy within football where there is a group of clubs that fall within the hierarchy and the clubs that fall outside don’t have a seat at the table and shouldn’t even demand one.
“I’m frustrated with people assuming we are going to throw crazy money at deals, that we won’t understand true values and we can’t negotiate or get value for a player. We’ve had numbers thrown at us that are a joke.
“There are situations where a £10 million player will be offered to us for a ‘City price’ of £20 million. We just leave because at that point there’s no point arguing – if people are throwing crazy numbers at us, fine, deals won’t be done.”
“Look at (City owner) Sheikh Mansour; he’s a very shrewd businessman who has conducted himself in a professional way. I will defend the value of every deal we have done.
“Look at our Robinho deal. If he went in this transfer window for the same price [£32.5m] it would be a steal. Our deals to date presented fair value to the clubs we brought them from, fair value to us and are typical of the type of deals we are looking to make."
Mr al Mubarak has also reflected on last week's transfer of Kaka from AC Milan to Real Madrid in light of City's interest in the Brazilian star last January.
“When we looked at Kaká, the numbers being thrown around were crazy, suddenly in the news you see ‘City are crazy’ and ‘City are irresponsible’.
“Why is it when Real Madrid not only talks about but actually closes two deals, like the ones they’ve closed with the numbers they’ve committed to, it’s fine?”

already posted mate, but a great article nonetheless...

Blue Square have evens City, 6/4 Chelsea...4/1 united.

Could be a battle between us and Chelsea.

Of course a lot of the odds in stuff like this merely reflects where money is going, however Bookies have their own ITK's too.

Lets hope for their sake they are better than ours!

Bit worried about the money bet on chelsea to get tevez over last few days and also get the feeling roman abramovich wants revenge after we nicked robbie of them

is a terrific article, Khaldoon al Mubarak comes across very well, likeable chap. and really pleased they are sticking anbd believe in Hughes. i remember those idiots on Sunday Supplement show on SS, one guy called something Lawton i think it was, said 100% that Hughes would be sacked in the summer, Robbie sold and City was like a car crash waiting to happen.

You`d think just for this transfer window just to make a point,we would pay top dollar for folks. We just need this one break and it`ll domino,so ballsto it let`s pay over the odds, let`s just be the billy big times and financialy shank the premier league`s top4.
Sorry gotta get that off me chest.
No because then every club will want silly money off us. We will be a joke.

Agreed that if we pay top whack for players then we will be seen as a joke. The upside to the statement made by Khaldoon is that he is saying that he won't pay over the odds for players which is "good" IMO but that doesnt mean that if a player is valued at £30million he isnt going to pay it. Its all about Khaldoon's and Hughes' opinion on player valuing i.e they won't pay over £17million for RSC (Thank god) but will pay £32.5million for Robbie because he is worth it. Remain upbeat guys because if there is decent money to spend they will spend it. Gone are the days of paying £6million for strikers, its is more like £26million now

Is it not true then that Tevez has bought a home in the north west and registered his daughter in a local school, that his wife is settled in the area and the familyhave made friends here?

We can match any financial offer and offer first team football. If United have dropped out of the running so that they can do their fox and sour grapes impression, does that not put us in a very strong position?
