could this be the reason why the tevez deal is taking so long???
Very likely...

because like everyones saying its not like we'd be stepping on anyones toes scum dont want him chelsea supposedly pulled out so the premier league must be involved!

Or pre season doesnt start till the 4th, season doesnt start till mid aug, whats the big rush??

The rush for me is that i'd be able to calm down knowing he'd actually signed for us, i know there is stuff about how he's committed to signing for us etc etc but until he actually signs then there is the chance of another club coming in for him who haven't shown their hand yet & maybe turning him.
Carlos, sign ffs

Kia and Tevez forced United on Saturday to pull the plug on there offer to sign him, since then even more so than before the press seem to be openly admitting the player is ours.I presume that United put it in writing that they no longer want his services, therefore i personally cant see a reason why the club cant now publicly sign him-they can still have there big press conference on 1st July.Im boldly predicting we officially sign him this week.

If this was set in stone then Tevez could say in public that he is coming to us. As he is not doing that then I can only assume that we may be the front runners, but they are still open to other offers.

But City could announce the deal, and then the Premier League could have a look at the paperwork?

It's not exactly drawn out when you consider the Ronaldinho and Kaka sagas.

There's a theory that the deal is done, but City want to hold on to the 1st July 2009 so that they can make a big splash with their Umbro Day -but wouldn't that take away from it? i.e The world would be talking baout tevez, and not Umbro?

Simplest explanation is that Tevez is being paid by Utd until the 30th June 2009, and has given himself until then to determine his future. The size of the fee, and wages seems to be frightening off rivals at the moment
city could announce it but whats the point untill its all signed sealed delivered when it could still go tits up leaving us looking like twats!
I know that. The thing is some people are saying that the deal is done, so the question follows why not announce it now? Clearly it's not done.

It will just be a contractual obligation thats preventing it happening. Dont forget the circumstances are not a normal transfer, he's on loan from a rights management company until June 30th.

Contractually he may not be allowed to sign for another club in that period. Meanwhile the deal with City is done in the background ready for signing on the dotted line on the 1st July.
