Tevez - staying or going?

I totally agree, he is worth much more than £35 Million (I mean if Andy Carroll is worth £35 Million then..........................)

Seriously, I can see us only getting around £25-£30 Million though off a foreign club.

City will more than likely accept this to get rid and off the wage bill and move on.

Maybe Tolmie can give us some info on the situation and possible replacements??

Correct on all counts. His true value will not be realised simply because of the extraordinary wages someone decided to allow him, in a failed attempt to bribe him to stay.

Ive been called 'Rag' ,had vitriolic personal abuse and threats of banning from some morons here, for criticising the club on this site for keeping Tevez after the Jan transfer window and for agreeing to pay those unbelievable wages.

Now the club find themselves in another avoidable pickle, and those that criticised me will no doubt now be turning on Tevez in future pages here for doing exactly what I said he would do.

I have my Club at heart, not individual players or staff. After 45yrs my loyalty has never wavered, but if I think club tactics/buying/selling policy etc is a bit 'iffy' then I believe I've earned the right to say so...............and i will.

-- Tue Jul 05, 2011 9:49 am --

this! granted he is a great player, but surely if his reasoning for wanting to go is purely for the sake of his family, then surely he would be prepared to pay for a hell of a lot less than we are (stupidly) paying him....in my humble opinion there is no way we should keep a player who is repeatedly adamant that he wants to leave....and I for one cannot be arsed with the little tubby dwarf doing this every 5 or 6 months!

and there we have it! didnt take long did it?

Yeah sometimes I don't get it on here. When you have a disagreement with a fellow poster they call you a rag, doesn't seem quite right. But I agree in that a player who wants to leave should leave. In this case it just won't happen. Unless he agrees to lower wages there is no way in hell he's going anywhere.

The fact still remains that he's been worth every penny and isn't going anywhere because nothing has changed. Players like tevez are hard to find and when you do find them, they do not want to play in england. We were and ARE right to do everything to keep him here.

Im getting a feeling this may just wake the sleeping giant in terms of our finances. we're gonna go for a marqee signing and screw the reprocussions.

If Tevez gets sold we save 34 mill in salary ( not including things like NI contributions ) and we'll get the transfer fee or Maybe even Tevez's cash if he buys out his own contract.

Everyone asking for an insight from Tolmie are probably going to be disappointed. Tolm said he belived Tevez will probably stay. I dont think Tolm has heard much about this until now. Maybe it IS right out of the blue and fucked up the club?

Unless Tolm has held back some little nuggets to stop the board falling down? ;)

As for Tevez,,,Great timing!

I wonder if Tevez is so stupid to believe that City will let him go to outh America/Argentina on the cheap... or if he actually really wants to join Inter, Real Madrid or even Barca... if the latter, that just proves that all this talk about wanting to be closer to his family is just bollocks. Wouldn't be surprised if Kia is behind all this again.

The simple answer is that he is back with his wife and she fookin hates it in Manchester and Tevez has already been quoted as saying that he thinks pretty much the same.

If I had a choice of living in Madrid, Barcelone or Milan against Manchester I would be at the airport like a shot.

The worlds top players listen to what the likes of Tevez and Ronaldo say and that is why a number of both City's targets and the rags have already said this summer that they DO NOT WISH TO COME TO MANCHESTER.

Its a fact of life and I for one do not have a problem when a foreigner says what he feels, its not disrespectful to the city of Manchester just an observation that there are many other places in the world where people would prefer to live.

Well said!!

When he says he wants to be closer to his family by moving to Italy or Spain for example, it is not to save an hour or two off the flight journey but to have somewhere where he can persuade his family to re-locate and settle.

Manchester is not as appealing to them as say Barcelona or Milan and sadly that seems the simple truth of the matter unfortunately.
Milan is an hour and a half and Barcelona 2 hours from M/C.The mother isn´t his wife is she so why can´t she just move to one of those cities and he would have ample opportunity to spend time with the bin lids and he would have a greater possibility of fully exercising his parental rights. There´s more to this I have to say and NO I don´t mean dosh, wonga, lolly. Most divorced fathers get 1 weekend in 2 with their offspring - why should he be any different!

I got a bad feeling that Tevez caught the club by surprise with this public statement. Something tells me he didn't discuss this with the club before going public and now he left us with our pants down.

Thanks to that we can forget about getting anything more than 25m for him I think.

Fucking strip him off the Captaincy right now and get rid ASAP.

Nothing has really changed though apart from Tevez coming out and saying it openly rather than constantly hinting at it. It's not as if clubs around the world have been unaware that he has been wanting out, is it?

For Tevez to go there still needs to be a buyer that:

a) wants him and that Tevez is willing to play for

b) is willing to pay an acceptable price to City

c) is willing to pay a salary acceptable to Tevez

I very much doubt there are many (if any) teams that fit the above criteria so it is pretty much the same situation as 48 hours ago. He still has 3 years on his contract and I very much doubt we're going to let him go for a stupidly low amount.

Not sure if it's a good or bad thing but I can still see him being with us next season.
