Thaksin,, we salute you...

Thaksin deserves a lot of praise for the way he managed City.
It should be noted that the people who accused Thaksin of his crimes were an unelected military junta.

The people of Thailand have just voted again, and once more have voted for a person alligned with Thaksin.

With a bit of luck he will now get his lolly back.

Its also interesting that one of the new prime minister's favourite bands is Oasis.

You couldn't make it up.

What? For getting them into the biggest financial mess they had ever been in within 12 months of taking over, interfering too much with the team and using the club as an electioneering tool?

Yeah, that's the blue print right there for how to succeessfully 'manage' a football club.

Have you started early?

Thaksin was a bastard who had no clue and was about to drive us into the ground. We were literally on the very brink of it happening. In fact, it was happening

Clever fucking businessman though and he pulled off the deal of a lifetime with the arabs, evryone was left happy

Glad he's gone, but it's ironic that such a twat who would have absolutely destroyed MCFC has actually left us in the best position we've ever been in

whatever people think of him he did SAVE OUR CITY,with out him stepping in we`d be fucked!
with wardle and co we were playing with the worst set of cards possible now weve got a royal flush.if i ever met him i would shake his hand and say thankyou.

This basically. A ruthless businessman, and he did almost financially destroy us and put us in the very situation that Leeds are in. However, be it through pure luck or sheer business prowess he got us into ADUG's safe hands at JUST the right time.
So it all worked out great for us, and we probably wouldn't be in the amazing position we now find ourselves had he not come in. So kinda grateful, if somewhat begrudgingly for the way it could so easily have gone the opposite way.......

um... it's true that Frank was instrumental in keeping City from crumbling, even if it was out of pursuit of his own self interest, we owe him that.

but (no offense intended) you should really STFU about Thai politics, you don't know at all what you're talking about (not that i know all that much either, but i *have* been living in Thailand since Frank was in charge, and have been following Thai politics for about half a decade).

Without Thaksin we were pretty much nailed on to go down, no money to sign anyone, lost Distin & Barton, no manager etc. If we'd got relegated then we'd have lost most of our decent yougsters as the vultures would have swooped, we'd be in the Championship now battling for promotion again on a shoe-string budget. That's if we hadn't done a Leeds and gone into administration.

Frank got us SGE and some players which helped us to a 9th placed position and into Europe, via a back door admittedly, but if (big IF though) we win EUFA then who gives a shit how we qualified?

I don't give a crap why Frank bought the club, I'm concerned about the CLUB. What's the difference between the sheikh buying us to promote the UAE between Frank buying us to promote himself in Thailand - the only differences I can see is Frank has, shall we say, a much more dubious past and the arabs are much richer. We've been bought twice now by owners for personal and promotional reasons, I hope no-one is kidding themselves that the sheikh is a died in the wool, true blue City supporter.

People woman about what MIGHT have happened under Frank but the fact is that it didn't. He couldn't sustain the cost of running MCFC so he bowed out and we ended up being owned by one of the richest (if not THE richest) people in the world. He enabled the club to come out of a disastrous situation, possibly on two occasions - pre-Frank and pre-arab takeover. Even if you blame him for the situation before the sheikh I'm reasonably sure he never expected to have all his assets seized and if they had been released I do think he would have continued to invest.

IF it had all gone pearshaped and we did a Leeds I'd be slagging him off like everyone else but the plain fact, as far as the club is concerned, we are now unrecognisable from the City of early 2007. We have spent £80m on players for 2 seasons, signed Robinho, looking at signing Kaka for £100m with more to come I believe.

Yeah, I'd say we owe a lot to Frank.

Great post. Pretty much summed my thoughts up perfectly...
