Thatcher’s legacy-she sold off the family jewellery and look what happened
Neither Blair or Brown brought any back into public ownership and in fact, thanks to PFI you could argue they did far more damage.
It is too simplistic to blame Thatcher for everything.

Is it really ? - the PM who started a war cos her ratings were down - I don’t blame Thatcher for everything just most things - her legacy is she divided and destroyed and cared not a jot

She’d have won the ‘83 (or ‘84 most likely) election anyway, if the Falklands never happened. The is no way Labour could conceivably have won a GE with Michael Foot as leader.

I think her sending the task force was necessary, but certainly expedient and convenient - and it unquestionably helped her electorally.

What would you have done in her shoes when Argentina had invaded the Falklands?

As much as I hate her, exactly what she did, personally

Take your point about Michael Foot as brilliant and genuine as he was he was unelectable- as for the Falklands I would never have have sank a ship that was sailing away and outside our waters as she did with the Belgrano - she wanted war and she made sure she got it - people died on both sides because of her - shameful - she never wanted a peaceful diplomatic solution - until Johnson came along I would have her as the worst PM in modern times - she divided the country - despicable woman

What a shitshow. Excuse the pun but this should be seen as a watershed moment for a utility service that is absolutely crucial to the welfare of every single person, to be remodelled into a not-for-profit organisation. The bosses and shareholders have rinsed all the money and without looking into the detail, borrowed a shed load and rinsed that too. The regulators also have some culpability as well; put a law through parliament that sends people in charge to prison for the deliberate and known discharge of sewage into our waterways. That would soon stop. We all pay for water, 12 million people pay Thames Water and I am staggered and very angry at this level of debt and chaos. Maybe I'm being naive but even if they posted £1m of debt I'd be surprised, but billions? wtf
