Thames water

It is if they put creditors money at risk.
That is a very grey area. How do you prove a criminal act ? The Glazers have hocked the rags to the eyeballs by telling lenders they will always make money on Champs league, shirt sales, 659 million fans etc. Now it is looking somewhat dodgy have they acted in a criminal manner or have they just exploited a capitalist market that wants/needs to lend money.
Thames Water seem to have done the same. Borrowed money on promises, paid good wages to those at the top and paid out dividends as well.
I'm not defending them I am simply saying it is not a criminal act.

The government should instruct the Business (shareholders) that NO dividends can or will be paid until such time as the debt is repaid and the business is running profitably.

All operating profit will be 100% reinvested into the business to correct all the outstanding issues such as, leakage and sewerage.

Shareholders wont like it but tough... they've had it so good for so long but now they have to take the pain.

They can trade their shares if they choose to (if they can) which will deliver a market value but in the short term the dividend yield will be zero.

Needs tough uncompromising action - grow some balls Rishi and turn on your own kind.

They’ve borrowed against future profits and paid out millions to shareholders and bonuses to directors, most water companies have done the same or similar to the tune of £72 billion nationwide!
If you don’t think that’s criminal ,fair enough!
Quite simply this is called gambling. Decisions based on assumptions that you will be profitable.

Gambling carries risk and risks means you can win as well as lose... depends on how good you are at it.

They cannot do that. It is nothing to do with the Prime Minister. It is a private company. If the government take ownership of it then yes they may be able to do that but as I stress, a private company is free from government control, it has to be.

The glazers are set to sell their asset for a vastly inflated price, I'm struggling to see how that's relevant to a monopoly that's now insolvent.

renationalise on those terms if you'd prefer.

Either way no profit, no dividends.

What happens if the Glazers are all smoke and mirrors. Perhaps they asked a favour of Chelsea Jim to force up the price. The Fake Sheikh gets wind and pulls out. Suddenly the banks start asking for their money, the Glazers can't pay and we have a Thames Water scenario. Business is built on borrowing. I am not and never have defended the business model I'm just explaining it.

No issues with that. The current shareholders would get nowt and it would send a message to all the other Water companies and more importantly, their share holders who would not want to lose their money.

There is nothing discernibly criminal about the conduct of the directors, other than criminal levels of incompetence and negligence.

For better or worse, a director’s primary duty is to the shareholders.

That said, I reckon an assortment Piccadilly Gardens spice heads would have done a better job than these embarrassing cunts.
