Saying what?

As an aside I think it really is a great City, and I can see why people like it so much, great transport and other facilities, it's got the lot

That reminds me. I was in London about 15 years ago with some work colleagues from Sheffield. Having always being a little more sophisticated than those around me, I wanted to go for dinner at Terrence Conran's Mezzo on Wardour Street, but they insisted on going to the nearest Bella Italia, upon which one of them marveled that "we only have one Bella Italia in Sheffield, but London's full of them". I sometimes despair at my fellow man.

And they say if you're bored of London, you're bored of life. Not in Sheffield, they don't.

There seems to be a chain eatery on every corner in central London, but there were enough tourists around, Spoons do very well

From all the recent facts and figures that are being published London has very little to do with England anyway....it's mostly populated by foreigners.

No wonder there is little empathy for those living in the bleakness of the north.

As opposed to where you're from being populated by racists? London's populated by every kind of person so it's easy to find your own individual niche.

Where do you draw that conclusion?

Because I said that London is full of foreigners it's populated by racists in Manchester.

Fuckin' strange.

Spoons do well because Tim Martin is a genius.

The funniest ones are the Aberdeen Angus Steak Houses. There's never any fucker in there.

Hmm... High rental units in Central London with little apparent custom. I wonder how they can possibly survive....

That is true, I lived there for 25 years, everyone can find a niche, but that's a hop, skip and a fart away from "everyone else can fuck off".

How on earth did you survive here for 25 years with that kind of attitude? I find people just tend to keep themselves to themselves. What this city is full of is opportunity for those that work for it. Everything is here.

Including almost limitless supplies of Bella Pasta outlets.

Fuckin' strange.

Roughly only a third of people in London were born overseas and a number of them were brought here as children which means they grew up in London. To describe it as "mostly populated by foreigners" is profoundly ignorant and, literally read, is racist.

I was being deliberately rhetorical with my original answer. I don't know where you're from but I'm guessing it's not Moss Side, Longsight or Cheetham Hill.

-- Tue Mar 26, 2013 9:06 pm --

I've never eaten in one.

Think about it. You can eat food from anywhere, buy anything you need, see anything you want and witness numerous cultural activities in London. Something for everyone.

Manchester bored the living daylights out of me. I'd seen it all and done it all by 25.

Only a third?

The word you were looking to label me or anyone with an opinion with is Xenophobic not racist.

Do you bark that word in your sleep?
