Reduce corporation tax for companies headquartered outside of the London and SE.

The previous government set-up numerous schemes to improve employment levels in areas across the country - Future Jobs Fund and Working Neighbourhoods Fund, among others. Manchester, and the surrounding areas, received £Ms. I suggest you ask the relevant authorities about what happened to that money.

In addition I would increase NI for employees and employers in London as it costs far more to provide public services down there.

Per head?

Unless London schools have a higher pupil teacher ratio than those outside London and unless London hospitals serve more people per staff member than outside London hospitals yes costs are higher in London staff costs are higher - London loading as are land costs on which these hospitals and schools are built.

I'm not talking about regional development agencies which have been an abstract failure or any other funded schemes, I am talking about central government reducing income and council tax and NI in areas where they wish to move and promote business into. Do you honestly believe as an extreme example that reducing NI for both employees and employers to zero percent, income tax to 10% up to £100,000 and corp tax to 10% in a 25 mile radius of Manchester would see no increase in businesses setting up and relocating to the area.

Elephant and Castlet is a fucking eye sore. When I was there last time (had to jump on the tube from the bus) a tramp threw a can of beer at me and missed by a country mile.

BoyBlue has always had a shit throw.

That's what table tennis in pubs does for you.
Bloody southern weirdo.

Thank god they weren't an abject failure.

From all the recent facts and figures that are being published London has very little to do with England anyway....it's mostly populated by foreigners.

No wonder there is little empathy for those living in the bleakness of the north.

As opposed to where you're from being populated by racists? London's populated by every kind of person so it's easy to find your own individual niche.

That is true, I lived there for 25 years, everyone can find a niche, but that's a hop, skip and a fart away from "everyone else can fuck off".

You kind of have a point, there are people from every country on earth living there, but it's always been like that so I beleive, but you never see British workers doing menial jobs like hotel cleaners (in fact it's quite a rare sight outside London nowadays)

But it's not really an issue, the economy there can support it, in fact it needs them as the cost of living is so high that unless you were prepared to live in the places lowly paid immigrants live (generally in pretty squalid conditions) you could not afford to take the work.

But what I see happening and it is happening with other larger Cities in this country to a degree, is this circle, you invest in a City so more people come and live there so it needs more investment to support the larger population, thus other areas get starved of investment, to some extent Manchester and Liverpool are doing the same thing to the North West what London has been doing to the rest of the country for a long time

Just replace Washington, DC for London!!!!!!!!
Please dont. We'll end up with a load of brainwashed idiots who think carrying guns is a good idea because someone 200 years ago said it was OK.

That TOTALLY went over your head!!! You would love Washington, DC as guns are BANNED so dont worry about it. There are no guns in Washington, DC-yeah RIGHT!!!

I've never been.

Friends are amazed that I've managed to resist its smoky charms, reasonable prices and oh so pleasant locals.
