Moving on, Im looking forward to next week's Private Eye cover. I'll be disappointed if they dont mark the occasion with a 'tribute' to Thatcher.
Oh my life, that will be a brilliant edition. I'll certainly be putting plenty of clips on the Private Eye thread.

This weeks `Socialist Worker` is a cracker. `REJOICE`is the headline and it just gets better from then on. Ding Dong.

No accounting for class is there. Mind you, being the publication it is, they'll probably spout the same shite when Bliar goes as well.

Of course they will, and why not. Don`t forget, that many working class men lost there lives so we could have the right to freedom of speech.

I fell asleep after 10 minutes of QT (due to tiredness not boredom). Is the rest of the show worth catching on i-player or shall I give it a miss?

It's worth watching if only because a lot of what gets aired is stuff that has been debated in this thread. If question time had featured PB, Skash, Nimrod, GDM and Rasc it might have turned out much the same way.

Thanks, I will give it a watch. Would have liked to have seen TMQ and fetlocks thrown in for good measure!

With the same outcome. Both sides implacable. Thatcherites convinced the unions were running the country and slash and burn was the only way, "a price worth paying", versus the centre- left convinced she was driven by a total disdain for the working classes who were the ones paying the price. Nothing new, you could have the same debate about today's situation except there is no unions, and the civil service are the new miners. It all seems like deck-chairs and Titanic, the system is the problem that keeps throwing up the same ol' same ol'

This may sound Tory but I would say the Civil Service (not NHS/Police force) are a lot more dispensable than the miners. Miners contributed a huge amount towards British industry and were communities.

True.

Dimbleby would have to have been issued with a sawn-off pump action banhammer.

-- Fri Apr 12, 2013 11:35 am --
