Just watched the hurdles and the head wind indicator came up on screen. Mrs flash asked me why they don't run the other way so the wind isn't in their face. Unbelievable.

Everyone knows FloJo was a cheat, just a shame that she was never caught. If you notice the commentators very rarely refer to her records.

Very true.

And she and her ilk were one of the main reasons I lost interest at the time.

Its not just her though all the other records that still stand are never talked about. They should be wiped but its too late

FloJo was pretty obvious though. She came from nothing to a world beater in a short space of time and died young, possibly because as a result of what she had taken.
I remember watching her and all my instincts at the time shouted 'cheat!

Trying to think which other ones are still records from "cheats"?

Is the women's 800 still held by that "bloke" who ran 1.51 or something like that?

edit....just checked and yep it's still held by Kratochvilova at 1.53 in 1983, not a bad guess!

There were loads of very questionable performances over the years.

I know I agree world records on track normally progress but whats to say once Usain Bolt and his coach aren't around running any more there's nothing to say they will be beaten again. But I agree Flo Jo's are even further ahead than Bolts over the current crop are.

Half a second over 20 years is unheard of. I dont think a women can ever beat Flo and thats says everything
Anyway enough killing Flo for being whatever she was (freak or cheat)
Not just her anyway other records have stood as long but they were all found out eventually

Nah its a good subject though, from what i'm told the 100m record she set the wind may have been stronger but the equipment wasn't working properly which can take tenths off and Jeter has ran 10.6 odd which with wind would be close. It is a question of freak or cheat. Just like Bob Beamon's long jump world record if you've ever seen it, he was well ahead of his years all be it he had perfect conditions and his record wasn't touched for 23 years and to this day 44 years later there has only ever been one bigger jump in history, I know it isn't the same as track events but just using him as an example of being ahead of his time.
Not saying a believe Flo-Jo's records were legit, but wish I knew if they were or weren't.
Bob Beamon' jump was at altitude, Mexico City iirc.

I've just had a quick flick down the ladies' world records and it's quite shocking how long ago nearly every one is from, think there was only the hammer that was relatively recent.

Well; you married her!

Why is lane 1 not been used in any of the track events?

Olympic lanes. People are so confused as to whether to use them or not, as if they do, they could receive a fine.
