Everyone knows FloJo was a cheat, just a shame that she was never caught. If you notice the commentators very rarely refer to her records.

Very true.

And she and her ilk were one of the main reasons I lost interest at the time.
Carl Lewis has broken his silence on allegations that he was the beneficiary of a drugs cover-up, admitting he had tested positive for banned substances but claiming he was just one of "hundreds" of American athletes who were allowed to escape bans.

"There were hundreds of people getting off," he said. "Everyone was treated the same."

Lewis has now acknowledged that he failed three tests during the 1988 US Olympic trials, which under international rules at the time should have prevented him from competing in the Seoul games two months later.
watched a programme on the Atlanta Olympics where a Scientist tested specimens & he started with the 100m & worked his way up,he binned it after finding FUCkIN FIFTY & deciding it wouldn't benifit anyone by going on.
Should have named the lot of them.

That's really interesting stuff mate, never seen that before. No wonder, as I said earlier, that they don't talk about their records.

Time for a bout of Don't Drop The Baton...

GB won the first heat of the 4x400, if anyone's bothered.

How did they look overall? Possible contenders or slightly a bar below standard?

As long as the Jamaican's are in it nobody else is a contender imo.

Tell you what, that BMX racing is bloody scary! Some cracking crashes up to now.

Also watched some of the water polo, Hungary v Italy. Jesus, there's a 'hands on' sport - bloody knocking lumps out of each other.

Oh, and for a game of 'Coleman Balls' (bit of Private Eye stuff here) from the BBC commentators:

BMX - girl at trackside, after the first four races and 3 crashes, said 'there's only one word for it.......absolute carnage' - brilliant stuff.

Dressage - Brit girl doing her stuff (pretty well actually, currently in Gold) and the commentator said about her horse 'at the last Olympics he was much younger' - brilliant again.
